New Park? What is Disney up to?

I'm thinking new stores should be merchandised to create excitement. Compelling assortments that people actually want. Have actual collectibles. Create unique clothing labels that differentiate from the theme park ones. Make it special, not Childrens Place 2.0.

Bottome line is they should sell stuff people will want to buy. Thats the bottom line when it comes to retail. If they want to build a promo store for the parks, even better. Put park quality AAs and merchandise and rake in the duckets.

Yep you are right...just hope it becomes reality. We haven't had a Disney store in Winston-Salem, NC since Spring 2008.

Late to the discussion a bit, but it's wrong to blame CP for the fact DS are all crap today. Disney went that direction the last 3-4 years they owned the chain, which is why things fell apart and they dumped them to begin with.

Anything they do would be an improvement, but I'm wondering if they have some crazy idea to clone their Jon-Benet (and now Captain Jack) Boutiques at the Stores and move things in that direction.

I'd just like to have a reason to visit the stores again ...

:lookaroun:ROFLOL:

Never thought of BBB like that.:dazzle:

Anyway, that's an interesting concept? WalMarting those shops out of the parks? I don't like it. At least when they did it in WDW it was WDW exclusive.

Its not that I'm blaming CP, but the business model they had clearly didn't work. They might not have really understood the product and what to do with it. Just hope that this time around, it works.

Have you ever worked for CP because all the bad choices they have made could fill a book.

I hate 5th gate there is just no need at all for one, there is already too much to do in WDW. I would much rather have Disney plus the parks they already have and see them add a third gate in DL.

I totally agree with you on this one. there is really no need for a fifth park when they are doing so many changes to the current four.

CP may have run the stores poorly.

But that's not my point. Disney ran them into the ground the last 4-5 years they owned them and then sold the mess ... I saw very little change from TDS in 2003 vs. 2006 vs. 2008 vs. today ... largely dirty stores selling crap that's always on sale and targeted at the stroller brigade.

I hope they improve. I loved them their first decade ... they made trips to the mall, fun!
