So there is an LA Times article about Pandora making the rounds. Aside from the portions concerning Pandora which seem spectacular, there was also this tidbit regarding ROL:

A new nighttime spectacular featuring music, performers and water screen projections will take place on Discovery River, similar to World of Color at Disney California Adventure. For the new show, Disney is reportedly teaming up with Cirque du Soleil and WET, the design firm responsible for the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas.

...and World of Color...and (in the founders' time at Imagineering) the leapfrog fountains at Imagination...and the Fountain of Nations...

They're pretty great, and their relationship with Disney is pretty tight. This should be impressive...

Personally, I find the idea of WET and Cirque being involved fairly suspect. WET was meant to build/design World of Color, but early on in the process there was some sort of fall out. One thing that was rumored at the time was that WET disliked things Disney wanted to do with the show, like projections. Disney instead used a company called The Fountain People for the fountain tech and basically built the show themselves from scratch. I'd think they'd be more likely to thumb their noses at WET since WoC was a success without them, rather than try to work with them again. As for Cirque, I'd think they'd be a bit pricey for what is in essence a free show at a themepark. It's not as if Disney hasn't included acrobatic performances in shows and parades without Cirque before. Also, why wouldn't Disney be advertising heavily that both of these groups are involved?

Why would they advertise that now anyway? It would make more sense to heavily market RoL in early 2016 when the show is about to premiere. I'm sure we will have plenty of DPB videos and articles.

no pyro barges at AK! i guess disney said to heck with the maintenance and just went with an island. run a boat out to load the pyro before opening, and set for the day?

Who said this show was using pyro at all? Sounds like it's exclusively a water-based show with fountains and mist screens (and perhaps lighting effects on the Tree of Life if we're lucky). I'd actually be surprised if there's any fire used at all, they might be nervous to try anything like that with the animals in the area.

Then again apparently Seaworld has fireworks shows occasionally. Although copying what Seaworld does probably isn't what Disney wants given recent circumstances.

And Disney ended up having to replace a ton of the fountain tech within the first year. WET is the best in the business. Disney doesn't heavily advertise outside companies helping with creative on anything, even though it happens all the time. Even marquee attractions have help from outside consultants, but Disney magic is precisely that: Disney magic.

They also made Aquanura, a water show in efteling (A famous themepark in the netherland). I predict Rivers of light will be some what like Aquanura, it's basically World of color but a lot smaller.

Question is will the barges holding the fountains and mist screens, which I assume will be the case, be moved out and set into place each evening like Illuminations? Or will they be "moving" barges like Fantasmic?

I think barges will look ugly and Disney taking the easy cheap way out rather than building a underwater platform.

I don't know for certain, but with DCA they were able to drain it. Is this the case for animal kingdom? Did they install equipment when building the lake to be able to drain it?

I dont think they will drain it, most likely the fountains will be a more advanced and bigger verison of the Illumination barge fountains, where the fountains are on a barge. The date for the show is coming up, it's suppose to open in early 2016 (2016, march), that's all i'v heard so far. However, it has been confirmed for quiet some time now that this show will include floating lanterns, waterscreens, and animal imagery. I suspect there will also be projections on the tree of life and other effects like live actors during the show.

I'm under the impression the barges will move in and out each day like at Epcot. Don't know where I read it though (probably on here and it may have been conjecture, not concrete fact).

As to building permanent structures underwater, it has been stated that it would not be possible for the Discovery River due to it being a natural body of water with a less stable bottom. Unlike WoC which had an artificial body of water to use (basically a very large swimming pool with a concrete bottom).
