I was just in the Magic Kingdom this week, and can confirm that the two chambers were open on Stitch. My girfriend and I went on this, after reading all the posts here about it and reading the reviews on various websites. We thought we were prepared for the disappointment, but we were wrong. I think that bad is not the word to use to descirbe this attraction, but underwhelming is much more appropriate. This really has great potential, similar to Alien Encounter, but it just falls short on so many levels. I agree the animatronics are amazing, but something really needs to be done to enhance the experience. Hopefully they're working on it after park hours, but when I was there on Wed., we saw the show twice, and went into a different chamber for each show.
Did you notice any differences between the two shows you saw?

Besides the screaming children the second time I saw it? No, the shows were exactly the same...but on the plus side all the guns and animatronics were working.

to solve all this SGE and AE mess... I'm thinking that the 5th gate should be retired WDW rides. No more worrying about dissapointing replacements... all the classics would be in one place. such hottness!

hah!!!thats one if we can dream it we can't do it (retired rides in one park will never happen) plus hopefully new management will make the replacement rides better then the predisesor (spelling srry) I know this is a thread drift but have they given any indication on who the next CEO will be...O yah it's me I forgot

For all the complaining about Stitch (which I'm inclined to agree is justified), Lets not forget the improvements that have been made with new rides and attractions.

Old Lion King Show becomes PhilHarmagic
Delta Dream Flight becomes Buzz Lightyear
World of Motion becomes Test Track
Horizons becomes Mission Space
I dont' remember what was in the Timekeeper theater, but that seems to be quite a popular show on these boards as well. The problems many have identified with Stitch seem to be script problems that can and will be changed. The fluidity of the laser cannons and the stitch animatronic are truly impressive, and although it may be difficult to do now - once the ride is re-worked I anticipate it to be better then AE.

The only change that I personally didn't like was Journey into Imagination. However, I do recognize the ride needed to be redone, I don't think killing off the dream finder and turning figment into Jar Jar Binks w/ADD was the answer... but that's for another thread.

Most changes have been needed, but it is the mediocrity of the replacement, or rather the end product compared to the initial replacement plan that is the root of the problem for a lot of people. Sometimes it is the replacement itself compared to what it replaced that is the issue, and not just in the Imagination building.

Disney used to hold themselves to a much higher level, a benchmark only themselves could get near. A new attraction was guaranteed to be a big, positive issue. Now they seem content with keeping up with the competition, instead of obliterating it.

I don't know if i buy into that completely. Disney opens Buzz Lightyear, it's new it's innovative, it's hardly considered a top attraction (as much as I love it). A few years leader Universal improves on the idea and sells it as an E-Ticket. Revenge of the Mummy opens after extensive research on themeing and special effects heretofor unseen by Universal Standards, and by all accounts it's gonna get blown out of the water by EE.

Although I doubt very seriously they'd build a park with all the retired rides, I think definately having some sort of tribute to all of them is a great idea.

Very good points made RSoxNo1. Eisner has done some good but I still think there could be better :)

You mean that Jar Jar Binks doesn't already have ADD?!

One of my coordinators, who works in Tomorrowland, said he spoke with one of the few Imagineers lingering around Stitch, who told him new effects will be added to Stitch on an ongoing basis. From what he said, another animatronic will be added to the top of the teleportation tube where Stitch will pop his head out at various points in the show, as well as effects making it looks as though the cannons shot the chamber walls, which will reset at the end of every show (think of something kinda like the destruction of the wall in Muppetvision). I don't know what the timeline is on this, but it's supposed to be done chamber by chamber, after park close. In other words, it will not call for any down time during park hours.

I don't know why they think this will improve the guest's impression of the attraction, but hey... they're never going to bring back AE (which is what I want!).
This is like trying to add potpourri to a piece of crap. Sorry but there's NO WAY to make this attraction any better!

I remain confused. The point of this thread was to indicate that Stich: Great Escape was being rehabbed one theatre at a time with somewhat substantial changes being made. Now, however, several people have indicated that both theatres are operating. Does that mean that the news of the rehab was false or that they are doing all of the improvements at night. That seems odd to me.
