New Muppet-Vision Preshow Incoming?

If they have to re do any of the Muppets 3D, dear Walt, let them find voice actors that at least sound more like the original actors. The Muppets Movie was good, I enjoyed it... but then I heard the real Kermit and Miss Piggy and oh boy, it's bad.
Splice together dialogue from the shows or something please! Surely by now they have the technology to clone someones voice??
In Mickey's PhillharMagic It's all the original actor's voice for Donald! So they've even used this technology in the parks before. In fact all the characters voices are original but for some, like Jodi Benson, she just did an original recording of Part of Your World.

call me evil... but I think the movie part of the show needs an update...the 3d animated little character is so late 80's early 90's looking its just bad. I want the muppets to be relevant and fun...and to me that means keeping it modern so a new crop of kids can look at it in the same light I did as a kid (and not looking at it as an outdated movie). It can still be the same show...just update the technology.

lol just realized I didnt read all the pages and I guess im not alone in my thoughts ;P

Your statements had nothing to do with the discussion in any case (actually since Disney bought Pixar, Pixar basically runs Disney animation and has been involved in many Disney movies as well...like John Carter).
Wall-E and Johnny 5 are nothing alike except they are robots who are self-aware...that's like saying Johnny 5 was a rip-off of the Robot on Lost In Space, or a Lion is a rip-off of an Elephant... ludicrous
and their respective movies couldn't be more different...the fact is Wall-E was one of most original (and entertaining) movies ever made, which could be said about most of the Pixar movies.
-----NEVERTHELESS
The world is very different now than it was back in Walt's day...Disney made stories and characters theirs as nobody else could, there weren't really any established stories/characters to buy. Today, in addition to developing their own (original) stories and characters, Disney also adopts established stories and characters that will fit well (and thrive) as part of the Disney family (a family which includes all of us)...and in most cases, the original owner(s) are (or would have been) overjoyed (like Jim Henson was) to be part of such a wonderful family...a family who will care for, cultivate and love them forever (look at what Disney did for Pooh). There was no Muppets theme park for people to visit, no new Muppets movies; now they have a home and Disney is doing it's best to introduce them to a new generation of fans.
-----COMPLETELY BACK TO THE TOPIC, NOW
Pre-show is epic...don't touch it
Main-show...update to RealD, update ending with 'modern' people, er...and include Darth Vader, Thor, Ironman, within the crowd...maybe have Tinkerbell fly into the theater, land on a pile of bricks then have Thor squash her with his hammer commenting how big the mosquitoes are in Florida;), while an old guy on an ECV mows down half the crowd then has a face off with Vader who 'forces' him out of the ECV and Vader rides off (breathing easier).
And add more Muppet attractions

Sorry I didn't see your rambling till now Jeff. If you can't see how Johnny 5, and wall e are alike, I don't know what to tell you. The voice, the eyes, it's been discussed on here before. Whatever, everyone has their own opinion. Like you said, back on topic, leave The Muppets the way it is, just some upgrades please.

"Due to media activity taking place Friday, Feb. 8, Muppet*Vision 3D will experience a delayed opening. It is anticipated to be open to our Guests by 1 p.m., but we will share additional communication should that time be extended"

I would guess this is related to the movie, but it could also be related to the new pre-show prop that @KevinYee mentioned in his recent article.

Do you think this will be similar to what they do on the fantasy with the enchanted art and what not @RSoxNo1?

Last saw Muppetvision in October and I have to say, not only has it held up, it's still the best 3D movie currently playing at Disney World (or ANY theme park I've been to).
If anything, the fairly recent filmswap/restoration has made it look better than it has in years. All the jokes still hold up and unlike the recent movie you can really feel that it's genuine Henson work.
Even if the main and pre shows ARE 24 years old, I have a hard time believing that anything that replaces them will be as good.

Back to the subject of 'new muppet vision preshow'....

I would not be surprised if TDO has asked for a certain edit to the film, namely, removing Rizzo (tourists, what do they know)....

(Last time I was there, there was a 'knowing laughter' by some during that sequence)...
That's the best part!! And why couldn't they just reshoot the movie, with better sets etc, and just use the already recorded dialogue?

I'm also in the camp of keeping the old film seeing as it was Jim's last performance. I wouldn't mind them updating the CG of Waldo though.
I don't really like Waldo at all, it's the only part of the show that irks me.

I have pics of the new props I'll post when I get home...

Personally, I loved the new Muppets. The film was classic Muppet humor modernized. The music ranked up there with The Muppets' greatest hits. I do agree that Muppet Vision 3-D should remain as is, but plussed.
Exactly. Not sure why everybody hates it so much. I get that some parts were cheesy, but as a whole I think it still held the general muppet charm.

Waldo actually used to irk me a bit as well, but in reading a little bit about how he was actually produced via a puppeteer that was translated directly to the CGI, he bothers me a little less.
I wonder if on a tape drive or something, somewhere lost in Hensen/Disney studios, they still have that puppeteer data that could somehow be fed into an updated CGI character. Keep that piece of it alive while updating the character a little.

Does anyone else remember the living character initiative with the muppets? We were supposed to eventually get Honeydew/Beaker (Muppet Mobile Lab) and then Electric Mayhem? Is there still any chance that could happen? I thought either or both of those developments would be beyond awesome.

I'm afraid they've gone the way of that talking tree and Lucky :/

Why? Does it exceed the WDW threshold for awesomeness? I just read that Muppet Mobile Labs is up and running at HKDL. If that's the case, certainly the bugs are worked out. I wouldn't think it was that expensive...Who knows. I get the impression that the whole resort is down to one guy for maintenance and he probably vetoes everything since he can't get to chunks of falling iconography fast enough.

To be fair, he is working hard to keep up, he might not have the required skillset to keep up with today's technology

The new props have been updated. Piggy's mirror now has working lights and sits on a box addressed to Walter from Gary and Mary (referencing the 2011 Muppets). The other mysterious box has been painted blue with pipes sticking out of it. It's sitting on a box adressed to Gonzo's Royal Flush.
Thanks for the update. Has it been established if this is simply a new prop in the pre-show area or if there is more to it than that?
