New Muppet-Vision Preshow Incoming?

The show is very dated. They could easily release the pre-show and movie as a DVD extra on Muppets 2 DVD and update the attraction.

Yes they could do that, or they can keep it the way it is. It's like Peter Pan is dated, Small World is dated, Pirates is dated ..... Should they get rid of them? No, because they are considered classics, and I think the Muppets is the only movie attraction, that does not need to be changed, upgrades of course, but I would hate to see the movie changed. Maybe alter it a little, but don't totally change it.

As a huge fan of the original Muppets I would hate to see the original preshow movie go or be altered in any way besides updating the visual quality of the movie. I wouldn't mind for some interactive queue props that add to the whole atmosphere of the preshow though (as long as they will be unabled when the preshow starts for I can't stand annoying sounds, lights or whatever while I'm tring to watch it)

I think Muppets lends itself very well to an interactive queue/waiting area...I wouldn't see any need to changing the pre-show (especially not the film, as the characters/voices/style/etc. would not match up with the actual show film), just adding interactive elements should do the trick.

That being said, this push for interactive queue elements EVERYWHERE, seems odd....I'm not a germaphobe, but having all these things people are encouraged to touch and play with one after another, day after day, just seems a little....gross in a place so big. And like I said, not a germaphobe in the slightest.

I like the movie, I'm also all for a new film.... It seems many moan that Disney never creates new experiences yet everyone seems to want the parks to become museums. There is no harm in updating the movie - 3D is way more advanced these days, and now we are able to watch 3D films at a movie theatre or in the comfort of our own home I really do think 3D has had its day in a theme park just as a film. It either needs to be presented with amazing effects that reall immerse you in the show or as part of an attraction like Spiderman/TSMM

(they can do pretty decent CG muppets these days, just look at Sesame Street and Abby's Flying Fairy School)

I'd use those as examples of why NOT to do CG Muppets. I am sure I am not the only one that misses the...what should I call it...Organic? reality of true physical objects captured by actual light.

And I miss the old stop frame Thomas the Train and Bob The Builder too, but that is IP for another place.

Ha ha. Just brought to mind a childhood conversation between my siblings after touching the walls going through the castle at Disney. It went something like,
"Don't touch the walls."
"Why not?"
"It'll make you doy" ("Doy" was a made up word, sort of an adjective form of "Duh")
"Huh?"
"Do you realize how many people have touched those walls?"
"So?"
"You'll get germs."
"So?"
"And you'll get sick."
"So?"
"And have to miss school."
"So?"
"And then you'll be doy. Doy germs."

I thought Waldo was supposed to look obviously computer generated?

The only thing I would change in the entire attraction, aside from upgrade, would be the final scene with Kermit on the fire truck and everyone in 1991 attire. That is the only thing that dates the attraction, IMO.

Based on the OP, doesn't this seem to be more about making some of the props interactive and less on the change of the pre-show film? I'm I just not jumping to the correct conclusion that the pre-show film would be replaced as well?

As a kid, I used to tell my folks that Walt Disney was my real father and they had better take me home again soon. Thankfully, I had a very understanding father...
