One thing WDW does have a leg up on Disneyland for is food and beverage...glad to see Disneyland is starting to get better.

I must say, thats the first time I've ever heard that! It would be great if it was true but from what I've read its WDW that needs to get better...

4 words.

Bring back Figaro fries.

The menu does sound good. Hope we get it at WDW.

And have to agree that DL quick service is better than WDW. Because of EPCOT WDW overall may have better Table service. Although I have never eaten in a better restaurant than the Blue Bayou in DL. Very expensive but man was it good.

What world do you live in? lol :) You couldnt be further from the truth. WDW has an AWFUL food and beverage option for quick service/counter service restaurants as opposed to DL. DL's is VASTLY superior. I'll take the French Market, Rancho Del Zocalo, Redd Rockets anyday over ANY counter service restaurant in the entire Walt Disney World resort (within the theme parks).

I beg to differ. The food is the same quality in both places, but in DL I can make a same day reservation and sit down to eat in the Blue Bayou. Fifteen years ago, you'd be right.

The food quality is the same at both resorts. Just because the menu has more options doesn't mean the quality is great.

And where do you base such conclusions.

I travel between Orlando and LA every week, and am at both resorts one week or another (and have been for the past 3 years) ..and can tell you, without bias, that the QUALITY at DL is far higher than WDW. A simple test of WDW's corn dogs versus DL's will squash your statement completely.

A friend of mine is a pricing analyst at TDO, and I remember him mentioning to me awhile back, that WDW's food costs are far lower than that of DL's, due to the quality and mass quantities that they purchase for that resort versus DL's.

WDW may have several fantastic sit-downs, but I think DLR's counter service is SUBSTANTIALLY better than WDW's--especially true if you compare DL to the MK. No contest.

I don't visit each coasts nearly as much as you do, but I'm at Disneyland at least monthly and WDW at least annually. I like to eat anywhere from burgers at Tomorrowland Terrace to foie gras at Napa Rose. I would strongly back up the claim that Disneyland currently has much better food quality, and a better selection of types of food, than most of WDW. There are a few exceptions on each coast, but overall Disneyland beats WDW for quality, taste and selection.

10 or 12 years ago it would have been a different story. But over the past half decade in particular, Disneyland restaurants have steadily been improving while WDW dining has noticeably slipped by sometimes small and sometimes big drops. It's now quite lopsided in Disneyland's favor I think.

One thing WDW should never, and likely could never, compete with Disneyland on though is the corn dogs. The corn dogs at Disneyland especially should just be left out of the equation, it's just no contest. And to think, Disneyland's corn dogs have been served out of this little red truck at the end of Main Street for decades. It was the original food truck, before those things became the new craze and hippest way to eat in 2009-10.

I also know people who wait in line for up to an hour to get the homemade candy canes at Disneyland's Candy Palace on Main Street at Christmas. I do have to say they are about the bestest, freshest, most flavorful candy cane I've ever had. Not sure I'd wait an hour for them, but they are darn good, and you can watch them being made for you right there in the Candy Palace. A SoCal Christmas tradition for many families!

Back to the Village Haus on both coasts, it is interesting that each resort is going it's own way when it comes to food and theme park dining. You would think that with the whole Disney Parks thing that the menus would have become more standardized between WDW and Disneyland. But the exact opposite seems to be happening. I wonder why that is? So many other things, from park decorations to summertime campaigns are being shared. And yet park dining is going in very different directions in California and Florida. Kind of odd, don't you think?

I agree with the majority here that Disneyland's counter service restaurants blow WDW's away but I have to say that I noticed WDW's getting better. The upgrades to the menus at Restaurantosaurus, Pecos Bill's, and Studio Catering Company has been better than anything Walt Disney World has been offering for quite some time. And the 30% off coupon they offered everyone during the holidays to eat opposite popular lunch times was a brilliant marketing tool to battle the monster they created called the Disney Dining Plan.
The table service at Walt Disney World has declined big time, especially at Epcot. Many could argue that they could not keep up with the demand that the Dining Plan has put on the restuarants but the additions they put in place to alleviate the crowds, Via Napoli and Hacienda de San Angel, are so overpriced for mediocre food it gets ridiculous. There are a few gems in the parks when it comes to table service restaurants but we are finding its better to hit the resorts instead of the parks.

For those of us on a budget, I'd take WDW any day. Expect to pay between 20 and 40% more at DL. Portion sizes are smaller for many things as well. The pizza costs the same, but it is just a slice and not a whole pizza. Award Weiners might be the most afordable option on site, but it's just a dog and small bag of Lays.

For most CS options I don't see a difference in taste. There are a few different places that offer more variety in 2 parks that are spread across 4 at WDW.

WDW has tried to add more variety. The taco shop and noodle station at MK are there, but nobody eats at them. So they are only open up seasonally. It isn't WDW's fault that nobody wants more than burgers and fries. I'm sure they will keep trying, but until something sticks-- that's what we get.

I don't think you can blame the guests for lack of variety. Sure, staples like hamburgers and fries are always going to be top sellers. But for those who are looking for something different, its nice to have a change, especially if you are on vacation and eating park food all week. Lots of people do order alternative options, but apparently, dining management thinks that if 75% of people order burgers, than the remaining 25% somehow aren't important (or profitable) enough.

I think it is more in the attitude of management. DL quick service is far superior. There are several quick serve locations, that...get this.... use actual plates and silverware rather than paper plates and plastic forks!! I know, it's shocking.

And I also wonder why things haven't improved in WDW given the "One Disney" concept.
