While it's not advertised as "Fireworks viewing", they go to the trouble of mentioning the fireworks in their brief description, and only operate the Skyline Lounge for two hours in the evening during fireworks time. From the Disneyland.com website...

"Beginning May 26, 2017, sit back and relax as you enjoy a view of the Tomorrowland skyline―and perhaps catch a fireworks show―from this unique vantage point." https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disneyland/tomorrowland-skyline-lounge/

If not for a sideways and lackluster view of the fireworks, what is the point of being here from 8pm to 10pm? Cookies and a Coke? A view of the abandoned and decaying attractions from Tomorrowland '98? Watching the backside of the cover band performing at Tomorrowland Terrace?

I love how they use the word "perhaps".

On the one hand, this seems like an incredibly stupid thing to offer. On the other hand, it's been so easy to sell upcharges to Disney fans, I almost can't blame him for trying.

Ok, this is lame and probably harms the brand. And if you have a conscience, you really shouldn't try this, but I can see the temptation.

For everyone on this thread that can so easily see why this such a lame offer, why is that it that when it comes to the GOTG overlay it is not as easy to see that it was also born from the same lousy strategy from the same people - Chapek n Co. with the same cheap and miserly intentions? Sincere Question.

Because it wasn't. For one thing they aren't upcharging to enter MB. Also, from what I've read/seen, the attraction looks like it'll be a lot of fun to experience unlike a boring balcony that has been accessible for free for years.

My point is that they are both driven by the same strategy which is to squeeze every penny out of the guest the while spending the least amount of money and offering as little as possible in return.

I guess Fans have conditioned them to believe this will work. That and the Disney brand is just that strong.

I don't think those are fair comparisons. One is will you pay extra money for a treat and "perhaps" a fireworks show. While the other is more about preference of which they prefer. If they were to lets say make this ride cost an additional $45 to ride it, then we can start talking about comparisons.

But that's always been the strategy since Disneyland was conceived. More often than not Disney has been pretty good at striking the right balance, however we fans know that it has a long history of over-crowding, charging excessively high prices for basically everything, and casually cutting corners at its parks whenever it can get away with it.

I think what's grating on people about this particular news is that it's blatantly obvious that Disney is grossly overcharging for an incredibly lame experience that would hardly be worth doing even if it were free. Trust me, if there was a $45 upcharge to ride MB I'd be the first to complain about it.

The cutting corners seem to be getting more aggressive though. True there is no up charge to ride GOTG but overlaying a fan favorite and not building a ride from scratch is all part of the same deal. Offering less to make more. Quality and innovation taking a back seat to profit.

Does that rumor of Chapek wanting to have more screen rides with a 10 year shelf life make anyone nervous? Does anyone here think that is a good approach?

The thing you may not be taking into consideration, is not everyone knows about "the cutting of corners" or the potential cheapness of the ride. Most of this is based off of theories and predictions. It's easier to make an assessment and judgment on something when most of the facts are given to you, such as the Tomorrowland package.

I'm going to avoid replying to your second question mainly because it's a question that is better answered for another thread.

Wait. So the fact that it is cheap to overlay a fan favorite instead of building a purpose built attraction is a theory or prediction? This new $45 cookie and soda package is a theory or prediction?

Those are rhetorical ^^^ questions.

If anyone is excited for GOTG and Marvel that's fine but just admit it. Let's not pretend to be blind to the strategy behind it.

That question is better for another thread why? Think it kind of goes hand in hand with what we re talking about.

Because this thread was created to talk about the new package, not why i do or do not like the Guardians of the Galaxy attraction. It's off-topic.

Then this would be the first thread in the history of threads that ever stayed 100% on topic. With that said, I'm down to change history if you are. Let's do this.

Do you think they ll include peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip or both?
