New hotel ideas....

With the thread about the possibility of new themed rooms it got me thinking - what would you like to see as a new hotel theme? There's already the Disney Animation going up and that is themed after four movies The Little Mermaid, Cars, Finding Nemo and The Lion King.

So your ideas now. What theme? Would it be Value, Moderate or Deluxe? Which location: MK, AK, Epcot or HS?

My idea would probably be difficult to execute and expensive. But I would do a "Disney Movies" hotel and each room would be themed from a different movie. (See? Difficult to execute, but would be so cool.) The Main building would be decorated with all the different characters. I would make it a Value so more people than not could enjoy it and I would locate it close to HS. :)

Moderate -Disney Princess Palace - The hotel would be comprised of Castles representing each popular princess (Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Jasmine) They would all be done in the color schemes of that particular princess. The pools would represent something that is associated with that princesses story. (i.e. Glass slipper for Cinderells, Spinning wheel for Sleeping Beauty etc) Then food, reservation etc would be housed in "the Grand Ballroom" which would be an awesome palatial structure that would represent all of the other princesses through food and culture. You could have Mulans Asian Bistro, Tiannas Cajun Cusine etc. Ohhh what little princess wouldn't want to stay there????

I know, I know..... over active imagination :drevil:

I would locate it near MK of course! :)

I would like to see a 1940's themed Hollywood hotel near HS. Something with art deco and based off the past great Hollywood hotels of yesteryear.

I remember watching a Travel Channel show on world's most interesting hotels and I thought it would be neat if Disney tried something along these lines....but on a really grand scale. And rather than make it a value, moderate, deluxe, etc.- I'd like to see it have rooms, suites, villas, cabins, etc. in a variety of price ranges...so that you could spend $85 a nt or $400+ a nt and still get some part of the experience over the top themes. I'd love to have the options of staying in places like:

- the house of the Seven Dwarfs
- Rapunzel's tower
- the cottage of the good fairies from Sleeping Beauty
- a B&B style house like the residence in Mary Poppins
- similar to the Mary Poppins idea- the house in London in Peter Pan
- same vein as 2 above- but from 101 Dalmations (and any other movie that involves a house like this)
- a rustic layer like where the Peter Pan lost boys live
- motel/hotel style rooms in a pirate ship like Captain Jack or Captain Hook
-an old southern manor like in Princess & the Frog
- there could be several castles and palaces corresponding to various movies- offering different grades of rooms and suites...there could even be more lodging in areas outside the castles and palaces (like what you see in Aladdin and Cinderella) to give it that city around the castle/palace feel
- an underwater area w/hotel-motel style rooms that have underwater views and access to have a more realistic Little Mermaid/Nemo feel
- a rustic village like in the Jungle Book

You get the idea.

I want a villians resort!! I don't care how they do it but I want it to be scary and dark and forbidding (but kind of in a HM kind of way so kids aren't too scared to be there lol). I think it should probably be a moderate because I want theming inside and out but I don't see it as being a deluxe resort. Maybe one of the pools can be a bubbling cauldron or something.

I would also like a new Deluxe resort and think it should have some kind of "place" theme. Maybe an Italian or Spanish type of resort. I don't know for sure. I'm sure other people have more elaborate things thought up already.

all cool!

Wow! All the responses are very cool and I'd stay in any one of them! Except I'm not sure how well my DH and two boys would take staying in the Princess Hotel! I wouldn't tell them, I make all the plans/reservations, so I'd just surprise them! LOL!! :ROFLOL:

For a value make one with large icons with characters and settings from Pinocchio and Bambi and Dumbo and Alice in Wonderland (I don't remember seeing icons like these at any of the other value resort). For the main pool it could be called Pleasure Pool and have an huge icon of Monstro the whale with his mouth shut and having water squirts come out of his mouth. The water squirts would be like the water squirts at pools at other value resort and since the mouth of the whale is closed that would explain why it's only squirts of water. For a quiet pool maybe have it shaped like a petal or a flower. Also have an icon of Alice by this pool.

I will get back with an idea for a mod and delux later.

I'm not being one of those A-hole posters but Disney already has a movies resort and the Animation resort will make it two movies resorts  so since the OP suggested value, maybe just a re-vamp of All-Star Movies movies would suffice.

Check out Legendary Years Pop Century on youtube and see how depressing it is. Should the branch of hotels be called mid-century and up or half a century? Irks me that 1900-1940 is missing because I would have loved it. Really great times for Walt and can't imagine how cool the architecture, artwork, structures, and interiors would have been. Check out the video and look at the signage that counts up from 00 to 40 and the art deco style background.

A sprawling hotel outside Epcot to complete the "city" with residences. I would build it where the parking lot is right now, just outside the park.

Yes, and if they did what the Contemporary, GF, and Poly has and add monorails or a peoplemover that Epcot Hotel guests can ride to get to the park, people would lose their mind from excitement. Well, I would. Great idea and harkens back to the orignal plans which Disney fans love.

Someone that is familiar with park property logistics would know precisely if there is room or not and if it is feasible.

Universal would have a hard time topping that for a spell. :zipit: Did I just type that?

YES.

There's already a beautiful precedent at Disney's Hollywood Hotel at Hong Kong Disneyland (<- click for pics). I'm amazed that Disney's never brought a resort like this to WDW, and if they ever did an extreme makeover of DHS, this would be a great resort to build and tie in with it. I imagine a resort like this would be deluxe class.

I just posted a reply to another thread, where coincidentally mentioned a few ideas for resorts. One was a deluxe Beaux-arts style resort representing the Belle Epoque era of Parisian history. Lots of stained-glass, art nouveau paintings, chandeliers and grand staircases would work very well here. I'm thinking something like the Opera Garnier, visually. A resort like this would cost a lot to build, so it too would probably have to be deluxe.

Disney had plans for a Mediterranean resort a while back, and I can't say I liked them because they veered a little too much to postmodern for my taste. But I think rethinking it and creating a new Meditteranean resort would be very, very cool. They could have different wings featuring different architectural styles, maybe wings for ancient, classical Greece, a more modern Santorini-style Greece, Renaissance Italian, Italian Riviera, or maybe even a Spanish Meditteranean wing. Lots of columns, arches, fountains, sculptures, and terra cotta rooftops would work very well here. I think the gardens and outdoor public spaces at a resort like this could very well be a property-wide destination, like the Boardwalk is. This one could probably be either a deluxe, or a Coronado Springs-style moderate.

I think my inner armchair-Imagineer is getting ahead of myself... well, you get the idea.

...Okay, okay, I coudn't stay away for long. With the pirate-themed rooms at the Disneyland Hotel and Caribbean Beach being popular... why not expand them to a whole resort? Lots of Caribbean and 17-century mission architecture, remnants of shipwrecks... just imagine what the pool could be like. :) The rooms could be pretty much just like the existing Pirate-themed rooms. Something like this could probably more easily be made moderate or even value.

Didn't read everybody's posts, so I don't know if this has already been mentioned...

I'd recreate the Hollywood Tower Hotel, but make it an actual hotel. Put it right near DHS.
