New HM attic music/organist?

I'm curious if WDW will add any music to the renovated attic to go with the Haunted Mansion's new bride.

Back in the 90's, Disneyland's attic received an organ, played by a shadow seen on the wall (much MUCH better than the WDW shadow organist after the library). That organist plays "Here Comes the Bride".

Since I highly doubt WDW would add a second organ, I wonder if they'll try another method to introduce that music, like maybe a music box? Or does Phantom Manor have a variation of G.G.G. that would fit in there? Or maybe they'll just keep the heartbeat by itself.

As for WDW's "shadow organist", I would hope they are fixing that horribly jerky and outdated effect. According to another website (grimghosts.com?) that organist jerks because it was not meant to be seen all the time. Supposedly, flashes of lightning from the window were to supposed to allow the organist to be seen only briefly, but the effect didn't work right.

With the new "lightning windows" going in the former "Sinister 11" portrait hall, I wonder if they'll add lightning to the organist's window, too. Or maybe just put in a full-motion projection of the organist (like DL) instead of the primitive cut-out they shine a light on now.

And speaking of the portrait hall "lightning windows", someone posted that those windows would be on the left side of the room, just like at Disneyland. If so, I wonder if the transition to the organ room will be smooth since those windows are on the right side. You'd think both sets of windows so close to each other would be on the same side of the "house".

I would love it if they included parts of Phantom Manor's renditions of Grim Grinning Ghosts in this refurb! Phantom Manor's score is awesome.

Interesting.... I didn`t know about the didn`t-work-right lightning effect on the WDW shadow. Since WDWs HM has only had 2 major changes I`m aware of since 1971 (Leotta system changed and the original spooky bride swapped) let`s hope we see some plussing all over the attraction - which I`m sure we will ;)

As much as I adore the PM score, it would jar so much with the stuck-in-the-60's WDW and DLC versions - PMs music is much more orchestral and darker to fit the theme and story. Having said that, there are a few parts of PMs organ rendition of GGG that could fit in the attic if needs be; the demo version of the Ballroom theme in particular springs to mind.

Sticking with WDW upgrades and effects, I do hope we see more `lightning` fx used; as rumoured for the portrait gallery. PMs load area for those who don`t know uses this effect with stunning results; in time to the load score, there is a huge window at the top of a staircase behind the track - clouds shoot across the sky and bolts of lightning flash. As the lightning hits, the entire load area lighting changes; all the wall and stair lights go out leaving just the ceiling lights and speedramp lighting lit - there is a perculiar `shadow` effect light that vanishes as the lights come back on. Lets`s hope for this kind of detail in the WDW rehab :D

What shadow organist? Is it the ghost that plays the organ in the dinning room scene or the invisible ghost that plays the piano in the hallway?

No. At Disneyland they have a ghostly piano player in the attic on the opposite end from the bride.

Thanks. I was confused. I though they changed it without me knowing it. I knew that the only "Here comes the Bride" masion music I've ever found was played by a piano. Made me panic for a moment.

As far as new mucis goes I guess we will have to wait and see!

I can only hope that we receive the "Here comes the bride" tune "echoing through the halls" (sorry cheesy ride reference) as we pass throught the attic. I think that would certainly be more eerie than a beating heart...I hope and think that WDI will do an incredible job with this refurb.

^ I dunno, I always found the loud beating heart indead silence (well, except for the screaming pop-ups) to be pretty eerie and ominous.

That sounds spectacular!!!! Are there any photos or video of that? I saw on the phantom manor's website but there were not many photos. People have argued that PM has the better story line as well. Any truth to that?

PM is different in so many ways than HM, but I don't know which I like more. PM focuses more on effects, plot and eeriness (and a fantastic musical score) while HM focuses more on tiny details and MUCH more comic relief. Some kids who aren't scared of HM could still be scared of PM for example. I also found the plot in PM to be quite more gruesome (I lack a better word :) ) and dreary than HM. I remember PM to be quite a bit shorter than HM as well, probably because the Doom Buggies move faster. PM also lacks a proper GHOST HOST guide. :brick:

PM has a better storyline in that it HAS one, but I wouldn't say that PM is necessarily better. It has really amazing aspects to it (load area, music, and dark story) but the finale Western vista is kinda lame and abruptly out of place with the rest of the spookiness of it. I rate them about equal but with different strengths.

Am I the only one that isn't bothered by the piano player at WDW? I especially love that he's all alone in the dark in front of that window, and his shadow is on the floor only...

I just watched on youtube....goodness, there's no campy or sillyness to it. The ending is out of place and would scare me, if I was a little kid! It didn't fit in but the idea of the bride was an interesting point. I was expecting these fantastic AA but there didn't seem to be any, am I wrong?

I have to agree with you about the piano player. I always liked him and never had an issue with it being to stiff in movement. Heck, the ballroom scene is my favorite part of the whole ride!

It's funny because the ride isn't all that different up until the attic, but the music and lack of narration (there's no ghost host past the stretch room and portrait hall, no speakers in the doombuggies) make it seem a lot more ominous than it does with the lighthearted chatter reassuring you a bit. But because of this, the sudden entrance into a frontier town with goofy animatronics (and no, pretty much only the Phantom is an advanced AA) and not-so-good ghost gags, seem really strange and break the storyline that they've created. Haunted Mansion's graveyard is not only better executed but also is in line with the tone of the attraction. But that first 2/3 of the Manor is really good (and yes, a bit scary).

The piano player in question is not the one on the ballroom - it is the one after the library.
