New Guy wants to CP in Transportation

First Welcome to the boards...hope you like it here.

Second, the best thing you can do is take all of the enthusiasm that you just showed in that post into your interview.

Third, if you do a face to face, it is best to dress business casual. Don't overdress or show up looking like you just came from the beach or working out at the gym...Yuck!

Fourth, although the Plane thing doesn't really apply directly to monorails (they are much simpler to operate than a plane), your safety record will put you in high regard there.

Fifth, if you bring a little portfolio to show them include that certificate you got in order to illustrate your story.

and finally, if you check transportation, you can discuss with the interviewer your options of maybe doing attractions if something in transportation isn't available.

Best of luck with everything. Read through some of the other CP threads and you can find out things they have been asked in Phone interveiws as well as face to face interviews. Keep up with stuff on the CP website.

HAVE FUN! It will be a lot of hard work, but your enthusiasm will help carry you through.:D

I was working at M:S yesterday, and a CP came through my line, and drove monorails. He didn't have any experience at all...so there you go..I think the way that you described it especially with the enthusiasm you'll get it.

I did the CP with a guy who only checked Transportation on his application, and during the interview told them that he wanted monorails or a totally different line of business. He ended up getting monorails and loved it.

So it's worth a shot!

I just got done with the interview! It was pretty fun actually. She asked me a bunch of questions about the Monorail after I told her that I wanted that. She asked if I was comfortable driving it at night and at heights up to 70ft and also asked if I was comfortable transporting large numbers of people while having guests in the cab, etc etc. She also encouraged me to select another role just in case something in Transportation wasn't available so I checked attractions but she didn't ask me any questions about those. She said she would put special notes in my application about my desire and reasons for being a monorail pilot and said that they love it when CMs have a reason behind their actions like I did. Dang now I have to wait two weeks!

Glad to hear it went well.:)

Thats awesome I hope you get it. Not gonna lie your original post where you went into the story of the Co-Pilot license gave me goosebumps as well. You sound very passionate about the Monorails so I so no way you won't get to live your dream CP. I had a room mate that loved this monorail job, I of course worked at the TTC in parking and met alot of the CP Monorailers and many of them had no prior piloting experience so you have got to be a big yellow shoe in.

P.S. the next 2-3 weeks will be the longest 2-3 weeks ever while you wait for your letter. I myself am waiting for mine to do the Summer Alumni program.

I wish the CDS (cast deployment system--computer program that distributes breaks and assignments automatically) worked like that.
Sure enough if you love the princess room and hate the Judge's Tent, you will end up in the Judge's Tent. And if you hate the princess room and love the Pal's room, you will end up with the Princesses. At least it seems that way.:p:brick:
