The lot closures and not necessarily to install the haul rope, it may be to install the cable we have been seeing at the tops of the towers.
Understood. Just figured it'd be some decent conversation material to get off the friction topic :D
Maybe we'll find out tomorrow morning what's exactly going on?

Blog Mickey has some good pictures of the cable installation..

The spool for the cable at the top of the tower say Fatzer which is a company that makes gondola haul cables, although this cable is to small for that. There are also other cable spools that say Cortland on it. Cortland makes special purpose communication cable.

I think the article mentioned that the Fatzer cable is the guide wire that will pull the actual rope from tower to tower. I can tell by looking that the other cable draped over the tower closest to the station is low voltage communications cable.

I bet they'll use wire/rope lubricant by the gallon for this job. ;)

Looking at the entrance holes in the Hollywood Studios station, my guess is there will be three communications cables and one haul rope loop for each line. I have heard the haul ropes are 54 mm, which is quite beefy. There could be two successively larger "sand lines" pulled around each lift before the final Fatzer rope because it is so heavy.

Sorry... I forgot the first rule of Mickey Mouse Fun Gondolas of Death Club...
No, first rule of Mickey Mouse Fun Gondolas of Death Club is to not talk about it. Second rule is to not give your member number...

Third rule is to your tombstone pre-prepared in a manner befitting any of the already identified methods of expiring while riding in the gondolas of death.

The breadth and vastness of the knowledge of the people on this site astounds me. Trains, monorails, rides, history and now gondolas. I'm impressed daily.

I believe the pull cables use these two pulleys. The center cable looks to also be a solid cable so it might be there to support the communication cables.

Victory way closing tonight and for the next several nights, at the exact spot the cables will pass over the road. My guess is this means that cables are being installed over the next couple of nights for the DHS to Caribbean Beach line.

Or they are running the cable at the top of the tower and the communication wires like we are seeing in other areas.
