News New Gondola Transportation - Disney Skyliner -

I wonder if it’s possible that these columns could be side load columns?

Essentially, allowing gondolas to be pulled to the side for double loading purposes, with a similar track being added on the inside of the curve at Riviera.

Or are they just roof support structures?

Each station has a few enclosed back of house rooms. You can also see them being built at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios station.

I thought the Riviera section was just a run through no stops
Boardwalk is the turning station.

Disney will be selling hand held fan misters for $89.95 at each gondola loading station. For an additional $10.95 you can get them in matching colors to your magic band.

They will also sell ultra-dark sunglasses for drivers to wear if they have to drive near those things and their super reflective window tint on a sunny day. Keeping drivers' retinas in tact will be a bit of extra magic.

Is anything happening yet at the Boardwalk turn? I remember pictures of clearing trees and the site, but nothing since.

Is there no love for the poor old Boardwalk? Or just no progress? :(

The structure is going up there, I think bioreconstruct had some pictures on Twitter recently. But you're right, there's less interest there since it's not a station and just a turn.

The walls look like sides of a loading platform to me. They aren’t tall enough to be a building. All the conduit at the center converges at what will likely be a small control room to house that station’s touchscreen and electronics cabinets.

Looks like a lot more utility conduits goin in here. I still think this might be the new restroom building.

Definitely bathrooms by the look of the plumbing rough in, but it is much bigger a building then that and has a lot of electrical. Maybe also break room for drivers and offices for management etc. Also the forming for a cantilevered piece of the slab over the near side corner seems like a lot of effort and expense just to have the building be square.

Ah gotcha.

Obviously the walled structures appear to be walls, but it looks like there are columns stubbed out inside the perimeter of the wall.

What are some of the reasons you may want a door to open or not to open at a terminus of one of the lines?

Is this a common installed option?

It’s useful when you are running just for maintenance and don’t want people on line or if you need to close a station.

Example: If Riviera is not finished when Skyliner opens, they can set the rails to ‘neutral’ on both sides of that station and all doors will stay closed between Epcot and CBR.

Some ski resorts buy this option, others don’t.

Gotcha. Makes sense.
I suppose on DHS it also makes sense for maintenance reasons etc.

Thanks for answering my question!!!
