Not that I've read every page of this, but I don't recall seeing this image anywhere before.

It's interesting that what he thought was going to be cabin storage, looks like its going to be outdoors. You can also see what limited bus transportation there will be at this station.

Can't wait to experience the thrill of a sun-soaked cabin on a 85/85 day...

Amazing how they are now moving to drone usage for such kind of jobs. Technology advancements are always awesome to see.

I guess UAV is more the proper term, since drone connotates that it is not directly controlled. But yes it makes the process a lot safer and easier for both workers and anyone in the area on the ground.

Marni or anyone for that matter, do we know why the Gondola stops at the IG instead of the main enterance? It seems it would have made sense to have it closer to the monorail for transfers to the MK. The only thing I can think of is that there will be a hotel in the way, they don’t want the additional traffic on the monorail, or by forcing you to walk through Epcot you will need a park hopper.

That's a lot of winding around for little benefit, plus there has been no announcement of what the entrance to Epcot is going to look like when it's redone. I would bet money that a hotel would be in the path of a gondola extension over to the monorail station, but even if that wasn't the plan then by extending it up there it's just something else that has to be designed around for new construction. If there would be an extension IMO it would make sense to construct that at the same time that the entrance to Epcot is overhauled.

Probably because they'd have to route the gondola around an entire park, versus just around the back. They're also only expecting the load of what, 3, 4 resorts and a park within walking distance? It doesn't need the full front route (though monorail access would be convenient)

Those resorts do around a third of all rooms on site though.

I thought it maybe due to a potential resort in the way, as @pdude81 said.

I don't think the IG stop precludes it from connecting to the other entrance in the future should they choose to do that, but there are permits filed for the entrance area to Epcot at least to rework drainage, so it's in the way regardless of what that project turns out to be. Also if we consider that you will be inside of the security bubble but outside ticketing normally when on a gondola, that would have to drop you at a very specific place at the front of Epcot right now.

It would be prudent to check on reliability and throughput with the planned resorts before figuring out what effect a direct transfer from the monorail lines would have on the load as well as parking distribution.

This was discussed earlier in the thread and it was concluded that there really isn't a good reason to have them stored indoors.

I thought @marni1971 hinted it might not be in the security bubble anymore? That the unload at IG might actually be outside the security zone. Or did I misunderstand something?

But yes, whatever they are planning for that area outside The Land may well be why they didn't take the gondola to the front. Also of course they have a little used entrance in the IG, why overload the front entrance? Personally, that's the charm of the IG and I really hope it doesn't impact it too much. When I thought the gondola was all a secure zone, I argued it wouldn't affect the IG too much; now I'm less certain.

With each gondola holding 8ish people and arriving staggered, I would hope they could get to security and through without much of a holdup.

Staggered every 10/15 seconds or so I think has been estimated. Not that long to stop a line building. Plus the people arriving from boats and the footpath.

I'm still trying to fathom why they wouldn't want to just sort out the entrances to both parks, so that the gondola is a secure zone. Seems crazy, after they made all the changes for the monorail.

Why wouldn't stopping almost dead center of Epcot be better or any worse then going to the main entrance? Seems handier where it is going to stop now.
