I just find it interesting. I don't do the boats in showcase lagoon unless I'm just trying to kill time because the overhead of waiting to dispatch and the actual process itself is so slow vs the alternatives.

That is crazy... given how long it takes for the boat to pull up, be secured, wait to dispatch, then time to dock, to secure, to let people off, etc... and the slow transit itself. Normally I avoid the boats unless they are just getting ready to leave because they hold so long waiting to depart, and all the overhead it takes for them to dock. How many waits did you have on the skyliner for it to fail to beat the boat?

Given how long it takes for a stalled gondola to continue moving, it works out.

If the boat was just pulling away in this example and it beat the skyliner by 3 mins that means the first person to walk up and just miss the boat took 17 minutes longer than someone boarding the gondola assuming the boats launch roughly every 20 minutes. Assuming the numbers are correct in most cases the gondola would be faster. The only times it won’t is when the gondola stalls or if you happen to walk up within 3 minutes of boat departure and if you get there at that time there’s no guarantee there will be room for you.

The boat really doesn’t take that long... it just seems like it because the 3 resort stops are pretty close together so it’s a lot of starting and stopping. I’m not surprised at all that the boat beats out the skyliner.
Well, it seems to me that the Gondola has a lot further to go then the boats from DHS to Epcot. However if you have to wait for a boat it will take 20 minutes approx. and with the stops it is another 20 minutes. To me the odds would be on the Gondola unless you like a boat ride and it's a nice warm day and you are not sitting in the sun.

Look if I wanted to win this argument I would just say “the boat offers a stop at boardwalk for ample hills” drop the mic and walk away. ;)

I feel like both the skyliner and the friendship boats are an attraction. So I just pick which attraction I want to use based on the line at the boat dock, how much I want ice cream, etc. both have variables that make them take about the same time on average (the skyliner transfer, the frequent slow down / stops on the Epcot line vs. how soon a boat comes.)

Even with the docking, the route is basically a straight line, while the Gondola is, basically, the outside of a rectangle, with a reload in the middle. The Gondola covers a heck of a lot more distance. Even at a higher speed of travel, the boat just travels a much shorter distance.

Yeah, I guess I overlooked the question was DHS<->EPCOT which is the 'best case scenario' for the boats.

I still find the 'waiting' all the time for the boats, even when on them annoying. I can probably honestly say I've never taken a boat to DHS :)

As a sidenote... the Joffreys at Carribean Beach station is a great place to get coffee, the lines are short and I got consistently good americanos there.

Also.... spyglass grill , a short walk away from the skyliner station at CB has amazing food and is a very relaxing place provided the weather is decent (only covered outdoor seating but usually a nice breeze)

Another consideration for boat v. gondola: Sometimes the boat gets packed like buses and sometimes you have to stand. You're always guaranteed a seat and a maximum level of crowdedness for the Skyliner.

And this was my point. The gondola is more pleasant. I hope they fix the Epcot leg soon. I'd embrace expanding the gondolas if they are consistently functional. Most times that I've had a pause on the gondola it has only been 5 minutes or so. But it is anxious times cause once it was much longer. (we have a family rule, giggle, always, always visit the restroom before boarding a gondola. It isn't like risking missing a bus, boat or monorail.)

Guests are continuously moving toward boarding unlike a corral waiting for a bus, monorail or boat not knowing when they will really surface. The downside for now is the unreliability of the Caribbean Epcot Leg and it being down for the day or for hours. I got caught up in the frustration one day exiting the Studios and wanting to head to the World Showcase. Walking was the best option given the options offered and FPs and dining reservations. Still I wasn't amused. I had done three trips prior in an electric cart due to a major foot injury and this was my first trip as a walking guest again. The boat line was at least 3 boats wait, it backed up way into studio area and the bus then was dropping guests at the front of Epcot not the World Showcase where I was heading. Either option for me was going to be a hike to the World Showcase. An Uber to the Beach Club or Boardwalk would have been a brighter decision on behalf of my foot. Hindsight.

I haven't seen the name "Doppelmayr" anywhere except on the shirts of the techs, but I did spot the name of their manufacturing subsidiary a few places in the cabin:

I have many times walked to the Swan or boardwalk and taken the boat from there. I also many times ride the boat to swan / dolphin and walk over to boardwalk and get ample hills and then finish on foot.

On my past trip i took the skyliner cause it’s new. It’s nice to have another great option.

As with most attractions, Disney ensures the manufacturer name is not visible...you don't see Intamin, Vekoma, Oceaneering, etc on most ride vehicles.

But the parts you showed are likely all standard pre-stamped parts used across all models. Decals and badges are easy to to not install. Re-casting steel components is likely a step too far!

I walk daily. Usually five miles. As I said in a previous post my last 3 trips required an Electric Cart do to a nasty ankle injury. This was my first trip on foot again and I really avoid unnecessary walking and save the foot for inside the parks as it continues to heal.

I love staying at Swan and Dolphin and until last year walking to either park, Boardwalk or mini golf wasn’t an issue. Rarely though did I ever leave one park and walk to the other except the days immediately after Hurricane Irma when the boats were not operating.
