New Generic Option - Costume Shortage

Yes, the grey t-shirt and grey or black shorts are known as "basics" and are required to be worn underneath character costumes, for obvious reasons. No need to say what the big bags of stuff have in them.
What is odd is when you see a girl about 4 foot 5 inches, petite, carrying a bag on her shoulders that seemed to be bigger than she was.

When I was a CM, due to cast zooming, I had 4 complete costumes at home at all times. I only exchanged them when there was an issue. I can absolutely see a costume shortage even with attempts to collect them upon termination.

I only saw a few characters minus their heads and the one I never saw without their head on was the big mouse himself. Rode my bus several times and was always fully costumed.

I never got to go on that MK tunnel guest tours back in the day. One perhaps could see a half dressed Mickey?
The tour is in the front of the park utilidoors and most of the cast is in the back. Pin supply, garbage chute, transport vehicles and some wall signs. Not much or like they walk you back under the castle.

Oprah had a segment episode and it was in the MK tunnels in 2009. It was very cool.

A new generic costume is now available for cast to wear: blue button up with black pants. This is to replace mismatched or thematically inappropriate costumes cast have been wearing due to lack of sizing until supplies return to normal of correct garments.

Yes
noticed the lack of costumes on my staycation for the 50th. If you don't know, then you don't realize it but as someone who goes to the parks frequently it's SO out of place

My KTTK was under the castle. Cinderella, Snow White and Ariel all stepped out of an elevator right above us from performing a castle stage show. We saw loads of CM's walking around down there.

I worry they will find this as a great cost savings measure and make it permanent. Don't put it past them.

And how many fans would praise that because they don’t care what employees wear and Disney is a business so saving costs is what they have to do?
Depends on the position. Guest relations doesn't need to be wearing that goofy plaid vest. I'm fine with pool and other recreation staff wearing the same stuff.

Not every role is a themed role.

Nobody should be wearing a golf shirt in Harbor House, but I suspect those highly themed costumes will be gone soon. Anything too gendered like that is going to be very problematic for 2021 Disney.

Their work around for that is allowing anyone to wear “Option A” or “Option B” for traditional female/male costumes. It’s interesting that Disneyland has taken it one step further where Option A can also switch the skirt to pants but still keep the same blouse, which just looks weird.

Let's play this out in practice. If Disney allows what is very obviously a man to wear this on stage, how is that going to go over on the ol' social media? I think it's only a matter of time until everyone is in pants.

I’ve already seen it in practice, and honestly no one really cared. Disney also very publicly said that they are allowing this, so if a persons trip is ruined because they think someone shouldn’t be wearing a pilgrim dress then maybe they have bigger things to consider. If a cast member feels more comfortable being them self wearing that than all the power to them. I’ve seen multiple cast in various locations wearing what would have been previously been the other gender costume and so far we have all survived.
