New FP Distribution Rules

I actually favor this as a cost-cutting move. These shows don't need FP and in the case of VotLM, it actually made it harder to see the show. It was always much easier to get into that theatre before FP. Does this mean that (gasp) Disney will actually open a new attraction that doesn't have FP, though (American Idol)? Surprising...

While I agree it is cost-cutting (and I support it), I also think it's a logical choice too. If FP is not benefiting these shows it's a waste of money AND time for the guests. I agree, it will be interesting to see what they decide to do about AI. That may be the only interesting part of that attraction for me. :lookaroun

They should (and probably will) drop fastpass entirely.

See, I've never been able to get behind this logic. I LOVE fastpass. I don't understand how anyone could NOT love fastpass. Why? Because I utilize it and it WORKS (for most attractions.) The ones where it doesn't work, we don't use it. My theory is that it is poor planners who cry foul on fastpass. Even when we have been there during the busy summer months, fastpass has been a savior. Why would anyone dislike a system that can allow you to wait 5 minutes for Everest? (that was my wait time last August, using FP.)

I agree. I wouldnt want to see them discontinue fp entirely. The shows, I dont really care since Im not so much a show watcher at WDW. I dont think they would, but if they did it would def. sour my taste in going back. But I do think that the people who dont like fp and say they should do away with em should just not use em. They can use their imagination and act like fp doesnt exist and choose to stand in the hour long waits, while people who want to, like me, can zip right past em in the fp line. I mean, I really dont see why fp is not popular to some people, but whatever, everyone is different.

Just in case anyone needs the complete list of the attractions in question:

-Magic Kingdom
Mickey's PhilharMagic
Stitch's Great Escape

-EPCOT
Honey, I Shrunk the Audience

-Hollywood Studios
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
Lights Motors Action!

-Animal Kingdom
It's Tough to be a Bug

That should cover the entire list

Why the fiscal year and not the calendar year?

That looks to be a clever cost cutting move.
No CM's needed to monitor the Fast Pass lines and no maintenance for Fast Pass machines.
Whoever suggested that at the Mickey's Cost Cutting Idea Meeting probably got an 'Attaboy'.

:)
Why be bitter about something like this? Even in peak season, a fastpass for these attractions hardly does anything at all, and it just confuses guests who aren't familiar with the system.

Its not only a smart money-saving move, its completely logical.

I would still expect to see FP for these attractions during park peak periods. Remember when someone said that Indy FP was gone and then it came back. Those two are to popular to take away. Beside, without them Studios only has RNC, TOT, ST, and TSM...although that is better than Epcot FP offerings.

personally i doubt disney is not making a profit right now. have you been to the parks recently? we were there 2 weeks ago & it was pretty busy. granted it was during the free dinning time but still busy. i imagine they see a big drop in crowds very soon for them to be cutting back these kind of things. the FP cut back make total sence no matter what is going on. i imagine disney workes like the place i work at. my work looks at the back log of jobs to see what the future hold as far as have the correct amount of people in the field & to have enough work for those people. I would think Disney looks to see how many reservations they have for next year compair that to the past years & go from there. so maybe with all these cut back reservations are down alot in the next year.

You apparently didn't get the WDWMagic memo! About six weeks ago there was a flashing the pan decision that we all hated Fastpass and it was time consuming and inefficent. A new rallying cry was sent out and was heard...for about a week. Then everyone kind of came to their senses and realized that not only does Fastpass work, it is an overall benefit to the guest who know how to use it.

I think these Fastpass cuts are a good thing. They save money on attractions that, at least in my microism of visiting the parks, never seem busy.

Additionally, certain members of the boards like to be obtuse and disagree just for the sake of it. Which is fine, it makes for good conversation!

The only thing that I'll miss about this is laughing to myself at the poor suckers who actually get fastpasses for those attractions
