New FLIK Wait Time Cards

Very cool. Does anyone have a picture of a new one?
I tried to get one, but was unable to do so without having a super awkward interaction with an attractions CM :/ . If I recall correctly, Test Track ones were blue, and I think the ones for The Seas were green, as an example. When I was at Soarin', they had 100% new cards, but most other attractions had like 90% old red cards and 10% new ones.

Are you sure these were not Rider Switch cards? There has been a recent push for Guests to carry similar lanyards with a similar yet different colored card through the line first to obtain a paper rider switch. This has cut down on abuse from people asking for one at the entrance and using it never going through the line.

There is also a push for all attractions regardless of height requirements to have rider switch passes available for people who have scared or sleeping children.

It is possible I suppose. At Test Track and The Seas they were hanging on the same hook as the normal red FLIK cards, and at Soarin' they were the only cards I saw that were plainly visible. I'm currently on the last day of my trip, but if I see any more, I'll ask the CM about them.

No but stealing (and that's what someone is doing when they take it) is wrong no matter what the item is or it cost. It's just sleezy and gives the impression that the guest has no class.
I never said it wasn't. Just stating that the cost for Disney to get new cards is a small small small fraction of what they make in a single business day. And that only a crazy person would get upset about it.

Since the Bands can be read long-distance without being tapped to a reader, all it would require would be sensors located in the Standby queue in spots at the entrance to the queue and near the boarding platform, positioned to read Bands on Guests as they walk by. Not everyone has to have a Band, but they get a wait-time calculation from Point A to Point B for each person who *is* wearing a Band.

If it's reading long distance it's not going to report accurately enough for wait times. The readers could thing you are at the front 5 minutes before you are.

The ones for PhotoPass are on ride so easier to pinpoint each car.

You were right, they are Rider Switch cards after all. I asked a Test Track CM today. I assumed they were FLIK cards since I didn't realize that non-thrill rides like The Seas now are using Rider Switch, and because they were hanging on the same hook. Sorry about that :(

I do wireless stuff for a living and with the proper antennas it's very possible to localize the signal accurately, But it looks like the topic is moot because it turns out a poster found that these are not new FLIK cards but rider swap cards

God bless the "Ignore" button.
My husband tried to keep one ( as a joke really), and the CM was very insistent that he give it back to the CM. He told him that the other cast members had let him keep it before! My husband has a rather dry sense of humor ( the CM didn't like it).:(
"Humor".
This is why WDW is going to hell in a handbaskst TWDC spent billions on a system capable of tracking an individuals movements through the parks yet cannot even leverage the system to track time spent in a queue
Amen. A gate at the entrance, a gate at Load, and the ability to "fluff" the numbers if there's a delay or if the queue has to extend beyond the entrance. It's not that freaking hard.

It absolutely baffles me why they still use the FLIK system, especially with all the enhancements made, such as cameras in many of the queues that feed to a central base that updates the wait time based on where the line is and the ride's current operating capacity.

The fundamental flaw in the FLIK system is that every card update is updating the wait time (actually, it gets calculated into an average with the last few cards scanned) with what that guest waited, and not the actual current wait time.

What many of you are getting put out with Cast Members about is called stealing. Cast Members are just trying to do their jobs. Stop making it harder by stealing things. Yes, it's a plastic card. Yes, you still are breaking the rules. Don't ask a Cast Member if you can keep them. Don't get put out with a Cast Member when they tell you the rules. We always like to look at the problem Disney has from the inside (like management refusing to invest) but maybe we should also look at the problem Disney has from the outside (the entitled guests)

By information that’s available to the public, it appears that WDW currently uses a combination of FLIK cards, Magic Band data, and location data from the My Disney Experience app to provide wait time estimates. When you’re asked for your location in the MDE app, one of the reasons given is to help provide accurate wait time information. Some people need to stop being so pessimistic and realize that Disney is likely just wanting more data points, and see the FLIK cards as a reliable source in addition to the others that have come up in recent years with MyMagic+. It’s likely a nice comparison point for them. The more data, the better.
