thanks for the pics scuttle. they're really great.

i'm a little disapointed about the dumbo building, surely it would be easy to stick some billboards in the way, themed to the speed way????

also, what is the steel structure they're adding to the side of the little mermaid? i can't make it out.

It's going to be a rock work arch to help hide the side of the Mermaid building and the service road.

Great pictures - I think I will wait until the construction is a little farther along to visit. October is looking better and better. 2014 is still looking best of all!

I was hoping for a 2013 completion date but I think you are right about 2014. Perhaps a June 2013 early Christmas gift. :xmas:

Some of my friends already have rotation shifts for Storybook for next week. All they have to do is take down the green walls near the teacups and they are ready to let the guests in since the red walls are already up!

Does that mean a soft opening as early as then or are they on shift to train with the "new" attractions? :)

At first thanks Scuttle, even without a good airplane the photos are giving us a good idea how far they are.

What i was wondering about is the fact that they are still working at the foundation of the second (old) dumbo.
You would have thought that they would have made this at the same time as the first.

Well i'm counting down to be there the second halve off May so keeping my fingers crossed that there is more to see then.

The billboards is actually a really good idea. Something better then a green painted wall. It's suprising to me that they didn't think of something to cover it up...on the same note, I'm curious what they are going to do about the road that runs between TLM and the other tents. I'm not sure how they are going to hide the back of TLM ride either?

You can see in the last picture in this thread the steel structure that they have started to build that will hide the service road and back of TLM. This will, I assume, be more rock work. You can also see in these pictures the start of a steel strucutre that will hide the TLM building from between the tents. This wasn't in the last aerials that were posted.

Wow, their gonna open the land up and it looks half finished still. Half a dumbo, what in the name of god are they doing to the other half still. The one tent is still not finished. The only thong that will be ready looks like half. of dumbo, probably one tent and the barnstormer and train station. Why not just wait till its all completely ready to open it. Just seems kinda tacky doing it like this. Unless they do some disney magic in two weeks and really make it look good. This should be interesting. I'm glad I'm going in september.

I think the fact they closed and moved Dumbo is driving force behind getting that re-opened for guests. Also, we're about to go full force into Spring Break and Easter season, so any added capacity (from a numbers point of view) will help.

By the way, does W-B stand for Wilkes-Barre?

Yep, I'm in Wilkes Barre , Pennsylvania here. That's true about spring break coming up. Course they still have some time left so we'll see what it'll lok like when they finally open it.

Grew up there and lived within 10 miles all my life... until a month ago

I thinks it weird that the chimneys on the cottage are different brick/stone/ cement and that they are already closing off that service road between the tents and the Little Mermaid building. Also, does anyone know what all that new rock work structure is for between the tents and the LM Building ??

Great pics, and it sounds like I'm going to just miss the opening by a few days. We will be there 3/8 - 3/11, and maybe 3/12, if we can extend a day.

As a construction/engineering geek, I'm still amazed at the size of the crane they are using for seven dwarfs. Can't wait to see it IRL. But, I'm also worried that all of the construction mess is just going to ruin the experience of Fantasyland this time around. Oh well, maybe next visit it will be completed!

The construction has ruined the feel of Fantasyland, but it's well worth it. I'm really started to think this expansion is going to be fantastic and a totally immersive and unique experience.
