ET is also quite well hidden inthe back of Universal...I think most people might not even notice its there, unless they're looking for it, or just happen to see it on their way to the Fievel/Curious George area.

I think ET is one of the best attractions that Universal made on a "Disney" theming level.

Having said that, the one difference that Peter Pan might do better is that you're flying over the city and its all around you, whereas in ET you're off to the right of it

ET is amazing. Even just the queue is something I haven't even seen approached at Disney. All this Next Gen stuff is just gaudy junk in the queues, even Nemo, which has a nice queue, is still just a few obvious effects. Whereas ET is an experience, immediately immersing you in a dark forest. It's one of the very best in Orlando.

It's funny because so many Disney fans are so snotty about Universal, and it definitely has it's own faults and areas where it doesn't approach Disney (service, etc.), but it's become clear over time that Universal spends their money and effort on the attraction itself. And over at Disney we get 100M+ attractions like Everest where they can't see the forest for the trees, spend way too much money on stuff that doesn't matter nearly as much as the stuff they spent way too little on.

I'm in no way a "hater", but I don't know how anyone cannot see where the quality attractions have been built in the recent past (and not so recent, as ET is ancient comparatively) and where the "done on the cheap" attractions that rely on a big franchise to be popular (i.e. Toy Story Big TV Screens) instead of amazing attractions which utilize a big franchise (a distinct difference) have been built.

I agree that the indoor queue for E.T. is great - I just wish it was used more. I feel that I see the exterior queue holding more guests than the interior queue. It's the same issue that faces Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland, but at least that's a function of Fastpass.

I will say that for a while, Universal was doing a much better job on queues than Disney was. They didn't start out that way, and now that Disney has moved towards the interactive queues they're starting to pay more attention again.

Having gone through all that, I completely agree that Universal spends money far more efficiently than Disney when it comes to rides.

Hang on, I thought there was a no-fly zone over Disney World after 9/11. What happened to that?

It only goes up to 3,000 feet and a 3 mile radius around the castle. We were at 3,500 when I took those shots. Plus there are still ways to go through the temporary flight restriction.
