NBA Experience was definitely not something I would ever even think about going...but the reviews and pictures from when it first opened cemented it... LOL. I am glad to see it gone...I still think they could do something more with ot...More like the Meow Wolf interactive experiences that could be mind blowing and amazing....and they could even incorporate Disney Memes into the design.... That is something I think a lot of people would enjoy...
They could even theme it to Cirque Du Soleil... So many options... Worst pick would have had to have been NBA

Well it is a tenant, not Disney owned.... So I would expect construction to go a little faster.... though that didn't help out the Cake Bake Shop....lol
As long they are paying rent, Disney does not care ;) Seriously since Disney profit shares with the tenant maybe there is a clause in the lease that says they must open sooner so that Disney can collect both rent and that sweet profit sharing ;)

From the release:

Gamers and job seekers, get ready! Level99, the much-anticipated interactive social gaming venue coming to Disney Springs West Side at Walt Disney World Resort will open its doors this summer, and in anticipation, has released its first rendering: the two-story bar located at the center of the venue. In preparation for opening, hiring is officially underway.

The sprawling playground designed for adults and teens will provide an exciting new experience at Disney Springs. Housed in more than 45,000 square feet of space, featuring a two-story bar and craft food offerings, guests will enjoy more than 60 life-sized mini-games where they will dodge axes, crack puzzles, and outsmart challenges.

And, to gear up for all this excitement, opening team hiring has begun for 150 entertainment and food and beverage roles at competitive wages.

The Disney Springs venue will be the fourth and largest Level99 location, including sites in Natick, Mass., Providence, R.I. and Tysons, Va. This newest venue will be located at Disney Springs West Side, near the Drawn to Life Cirque du Soleil theater.

Additional details about the Level99 venue at Disney Springs include:
  • Upon opening, this will be the largest Level99 venue, featuring 63 total mini-games and challenges (other locations currently have approximately 50).
  • Central to the Disney Springs location is a striking two-story bar encircled by glowing rings of neon light visible throughout the venue.
  • Level99 will bring its signature craft food and beverage program featuring a selection of award-winning Detroit-style pizza, wagyu burgers, craveable snacks, handcrafted cocktails, and rotating beers on tap. Ingredients are made from scratch daily.
  • Known for its larger-than-life and visually stunning artwork, Level99 at Disney Springs will feature the company's biggest art installations to date with more than 40 original pieces of art.

What exactly is craft food?
Very expensive dishes with fancy sounding names (with similarly fancy ingredient lists) to justify the prices. With overpriced alcoholic cocktails to wash it down. All paired with a "gaming experience" that will likely be high in price as well.

If this doesn't generate interest from locals (with lots of money to burn), I don't see this surviving more than 3 or 4 years in DS. While offering something different than the parks, how many non-locals/families on vacation will be willing to drop a few hundred more for this? Not to mention, if it's aimed at teens and adults, they have already narrowed their families-on-vacation market considerably.
