New Disney Springs Challenge Room Venue - Level99

Each room is 2-4 minutes. For anyone in the UK, it's like the Crystal Maze experience. Each room tests a different skill and you do enough to fill an hour. It sounds like this one is about scoring points for an overall leaderboard by completing challenges in each room, so something that everyone can do
I liked the Crystal maze and applied for the original series. That was 5-6 activities though.
But this sounds like 3 hrs of 2-4 minute challenges. That isn’t the definition of of “engaging” to
me, more like frenetic! How on earth do you work out what to do and carry it out in 2 minutes? 😂😂

Personally escape rooms are just not my thing so this is something I’d probably never visit. Who knows how they’re going to pull it off.
Although both involve challenges, Level 99 is very different from an escape room. I love the former and also dislike the latter. This is an exciting development!

eta: My kids love it. Minors are totally allowed (with an adult). I think they describe it as "for adults" to make clear how different it is from the typical arcade/bowling alley/escape room place for kids birthday parties.

Are there solo experiences or do you either need to bring a group or risk getting stuck with obnoxious people who just came from the bar?
You never have to play with strangers. You scan your bands on computers outside each room and wait for the room to open, so you have complete control over who is in a room with you. Some of the challenges would be tough or impossible solo, however.

Regarding age, I don’t think this would be fun for anyone under 8ish.

Cost in MA is really reasonable at $56 per day or as low as $36 for 2 hours. This definitely feels like a good value for such a high quality experience.

One of the standout features for me is the ability to win real prizes. You win tokens and prize pieces when you complete a game. These can be exchanged for merch and food. After just 2 visits, I already won a sticker and have nearly won a snack and water bottle. So prizes aren’t impossibly hard to attain.

Looks great for the 20-30s demo. I'm already aged out of it. For this to work, I think they need to reach out to the greater Orlando/Central Florida area. Not necessarily sure this will work for the average WDW vacationer. It appears to be successful in its other areas without a theme park.

Asking Perplexity AI...

what ages is level99 good for?

Answer
Level99 is primarily designed for adults, with the ideal age being over 21 due to its bar component. However, older children can participate if accompanied by an adult. The games and challenges are generally considered too difficult for younger kids, as they require a level of physical and mental engagement that may not be suitable for them134.
Here’s a summary of the age suitability:
  • Over 21: Ideal demographic due to the bar setting and complexity of games.
  • Ages 13-29: May enjoy the experience if they are accompanied by an adult, but the games are not specifically tailored for them.
  • Below 13 years old: Generally not recommended, as most challenges may be too challenging both physically and mentally134.
In conclusion, while Level99 can accommodate older kids in the presence of adults, it is primarily targeted towards an adult audience. /end

Maybe... Level99 would add more children-oriented tasks for the Disney crowds. Based on the layout of the NBA building, everything would have to be redesigned to fit. Can't just clone the layout.

It is the address of Disney Springs. Internet research shows a Matthew Dupressie is CEO…..

“Level99 is an open-world gaming concept featuring 50 challenge rooms that combine mental and physical elements. It addresses issues like throughput, replayability, and recurring costs, catering to a diverse audience with varying skill levels and preferences.”

Open world Entertainment incorporated in Florida 2/12/25.
Man, nothing I love more than throughput and recurring costs!

This will be a major fail if they stick to that. This concept could easily be adapted to include more family oriented games.
Agreed. It’s a concept that would have made sense at Pleasure Island but they abandoned that. At Disney Springs, this could confuse people. It’s not a concept that would inherently work with 3-year olds yet they’ll need families if they want 1000 people in here all the time.

I think it will need to be a bit more like Dave and Buster’s than their other locations.

Is this really something that happens often? it’s never happened to me it’s normally my dad that talks on the rides yes I know it’s a solid 5 star cringe
I can't say for sure, but if you want to be surrounded by them, just visit a new hotel like Terra Luna on opening day (3/25).

For that matter, just about any opening event will do, like the first day of any Epcot festival, or opening day of any Lake Buena Vista/Universal area hotel. Marriott has a big new property opening sometime in March, that's sure to draw a few.

There are now a LOT of them, so it is a bit surreal to be surrounded by people who are filming/narrating everything they are doing.

I'm sure the opening of Level99 will also be a draw!

So you've spent a minimum of $72 and you've almost won a snack and a water bottle? Yeah, that isn't going to work well with vacationing families.

Like I said previously - I applaud the effort to bring something different to this space and the DS area in general. But the more I read about it, the more I'm apprehensive about its long-term success.
