New Disney Princesses?

Yeah, Merida has got spunk. Of course, if they got into a fight, I'd probably have to give the edge to Mulan. She is also trained in archery, and when the arrows run out, Mulan has definitely got the edge in melee combat.
Agreed on this. Mulan would own Merida. They'd probably be equal matches at a distance, but once the combat became close-quarters, Mulan would take Merida down. On all of this though, I think trump card goes to queen Elsa, who'd just turn them both into blocks of ice and let Olaf ice-skate on their heads.

Actually, I think Ariel would be a surprise winner. Much like Aquaman, her life under the sea has adapted her to be tougher than the average human, and she did not lose this upon being granted legs (otherwise, she would have been crushed by the pressure, to say nothing of not suffering any sort of decompression by Sebastian and Flounder bringing her to the surface.) She also adapts very well, having picked up walking in a matter of hours. As for Elsa, Ariel would no doubt be adapted to cold temperatures- after all she swims under icebergs wearing nothing more than a seashell bikini.

This is all making me want to go and reread my Fables collections.

I don't mind it really. As long as they keep it to well known movies. So basically To a limit. I also like the more tough princesses like Merida being in the lineup. This is an age where female empowerment is finally coming to the surface in movies. It's got to a point where I was watching I think thor or Iron Man 3 and yelling at the female characters for not doing anything during the fight.

Shes right they aren't somewhere I have a list but it also excludes Giselle from enchanted and a few others. Like I said It prob depends on how big a hit the film is.

From what I understand, Giselle isn't included because Disney would have to pay royalties to Amy Adams for the use of her likeness.

Black Cauldron was something of a flop. Atlantis was a modest success, but a princess who attempts to stab a guy after kneeing him in the groin isn't probably going to fit in with Snow White or Belle. Kida would probably get along well with Mulan, though.

That was awesome though lol

That whole movie was awesome. "Less singing, more explosions" indeed.

One of the arguments for Kida's inclusion would be that it would add more ethnic diversity to the line-up. While "Atlantean" is not a real nationality or ethnicity, the fact is is that most folks wouldn't classify Kida as Caucasian, but she also can't be identified as any other race or creed. There's a pan-ethnic appeal with her that allows her to reach to a wide audience if Disney would take the time to promote her.

I agree with that. It could give young girls of all backgrounds and personalities someone to identify with.

Exactly. It's similar to why I think Aurora is so popular- she's probably the Princess with the least defined personality, and yet she's very popular, and I think that's because that since she's something of a blank slate, little girls can project whatever part of their personality they like about themselves onto her.

If you've ever sat around the SMK kiosk behind the Christmas shop and listened to a little girl break down into tears and commence wail because the Princess she identified with, Tiana, was off stage when she arrived it wouldn't even be a topic.

If you wanted to be realistic, most monarchies benefited 10% of the population at the expense of the other 90%. You never hear a child begging to be an indentured servant, scullery maid, stable boy, or privy cleaner but those jobs were the realities lots lived.

If they added 1000 more or never added another, it would make no difference to me at this point.

They've played up all the insignificant ones so much that none of them are special to me.

But many little girls love princesses, so it's great that they have so many. :)

They aren't official princesses.

I know there un-official princesses that's really kinda sad... I was thinking they should have a Meet and Greet for all the 2nd rate Disney characters in some place like the old Wonders of Life Pavilion in Epcot though, Treasure Planet, Home on the Range, The un-official Princesses ect...:joyfull:

I don't know if I'd call any of the current line-up insignificant.

Make the "Long-Lost Friends" thing a regular thing with a rotating line-up. One month, you got the Robin Hood gang, the next 2000s era characters, then Disney Afternoon, etc.

Treasure Planet was a good movie. I don't understand why it was never popular

OMG Yes. This is what happened during The Avengers! Black Widow (beyond her skills during the interrogation)....she seemed so pointless to the movie!
