Some people prefer not only to have the physical albums, but the sound quality of the CDs are vastly superior to iTunes lossy aac files.
You're right and I agree with you. But some things (Like Disney Park music) where there are just too many tracks to reasonably put on CD's. there must be hundreds of music loops in WDW alone . It would be impossible to put them all on CD. They also have to shorten attraction sound tracks. Splash Mountain on the official album is 8 min, whereas the uncut soundtrack is around 30. They would be able to put the full version instead of an abridged one.

Yeah, good call on that. That's definitely the biggest limitation with physical media, running out of space. But also... other than folks on here and Mousebits, who's going to listen to 30 minutes of Splash Mountain? Not your average tourist, that's for sure. I can't ever see them putting it out unless it was part of some giant box set like the one Disneyland put out a few years ago. So I am cool with them truncating some of the tracks for some of the standard releases. However, I get your point, and I dream of a day when Disney offers lossless tracks of some of these attractions, uncut.

Has CTX Theme appeared in every version of this album?

Sure seems like it doesn't it. Over all Im dissapointed with the same track list, its clear they are catering to the average tourist and not fans/collectors. Does anyone know if test track is the new version or the old? I wonder if the mermaid will be just movie soundtrack parts blended together or an actual ride through mix. I was hoping for a maelstrom ride thru but found a live recording on mousebits even though I would like a source track.

It's becoming less of an issue lately. Storage is very cheap now it's just a matter of whether or not a CD is still a viable storage source for that data.

At least for now I can just buy the new tracks via Amazon. That's always been the biggest downside of these general compilation albums, having to re-buy 90% of the same tracks over and over again to get a new nugget or two.

I understand the target audience these are aimed at, the person that wants a "sonic souvenir" of their vacation, but some of these tracks keep showing up year after year more for the sake of representing popular attractions than being a high quality piece of music (Destiny, I'm looking squarely at you)...

I hate that the large multi-disc set was shelved, but at the same time I'm hopeful that by the time they pick the "right" milestone to release a more comprehensive set to fans they will have even more new attraction soundtracks to add in.

Here's the Amazon.com page for the album, and it has track times: http://www.amazon.com/Walt-Disney-World-Official-Album/dp/B00EDN1LLW/ref=sr_1_3_title_1_mus?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1376283446&sr=1-3&keywords=disney world

Test Track is 5:11, and the prior release was 3:55, this must be a new version.

If you look at the name of the artist listed it gives you the name: Paul Leonar-Morgan

Doing a very quick search brought up:
http://www.paulleonardmorgan.com/work

Scroll down on that page and you will see it is the current version (Present by Chevrolet).

I want to be excited but I hate to get my hopes up that this track will be the queue. It could very well be the outside music, or a mashup of everything.

I would not get to excited, Either queue or outside music it wont be the complete loop. Not if its a 5:11 track.

I wish they would surprise us with other CDs like a updated Magic In The Streets or Event Party.
