Hello all,

Going to Disney in July and wanted some opinions on the best dining options for my family. For the first leg of the trip, we are going to have my wife, myself, and our 2.5 year old daughter as well as my parents and sister's family. Other than my daughter, everyone is 18+ and been to Disney a million times.

I am trying to get some ideas to change it up for all of us because we tend to go to the same places everytime. Almost like clockwork every year, we go to Park Faire for dinner one night, Chef Mickey's for breakfast, and mainly QS for lunch in the parks. I really want to do something different this year for everyone, but still keep my daughter happy. She is not that picky, but she is 2 1/2. Last year, we went to Ohana's for dinner for the first time and thought it was outstanding, except the drunk guy in the congo line. haha.

I appreciate any ideas to mix it up. So many amazing places on property...we just need to change it up a little.

You could try Ohana for breakfast. It is a character breakfast and of course the food is also good. Whispering canyon is also a good place to dine for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The servers are very "down home" and are very playful. Just ask for a bottle of ketchup while your there and you will find out what I mean.

my family loves Garden Grill. Would also ditto Whispering Canyon...and depending on what your daughter is into yet... the Princess Norway meals.

We tried Boma this time...and everyone loved it... they had a kids section for food selections and dessert.

We had a Grand Gathering last October with a couple of toddlers plus adults, and we enjoyed Liberty Tree Tavern. It's not a character meal anymore, but it was a nice traditional Thanksgiving like meal and the toddlers ate well.

About 10 years ago, we took a four-day trip to WDW. I asked my older DD, who was 6-yo at the time, what she remembered and liked best about her trip to DLP when she was 2 1/2. She said that the very best thing was that goofy shook her hand in Pizza Planet.

So I planned the whole four-day trip around character meals. To my surprise, our younger DD, who was 2-yo at the time had an even better time with the characters that the older one!

Today she doesn't remember anything too specific, except maybe the Mad Hatter from breakfast at the GF, but she has vague memories of being surrounded by characters at many meals and loving it.

I highely recommend the character meals (if you can afford it - it gets expensive after a while).

I hear there's a new one at DHS that's especially good for the littlest ones, but I can't remember the theme. Maybe someone else will, or I'll look it up later and edit.

Edit: I found it - It's Playhouse Disney at Hollywood & Vine:

Playhouse Disney's Play 'N Dine Character Dining at Hollywood & Vine Restaurant — Join popular Playhouse Disney pals, such as JoJo and Goliath from JoJo's Circus, and June and Leo from Disney's Little Einsteins, at the Hollywood & Vine restaurant as they host two fun-filled, musical meals: a breakfast buffet and a lunch buffet.

Character Dining Breakfast Buffet: Start your day with song. Sing along with your hosts to familiar Playhouse Disney tunes. Featured on the breakfast buffet are favorites like Mickey Mouse-shaped waffles, frittatas and fresh fruit.

Character Dining Lunch Buffet: The Playhouse Disney pals continue the festivities at Hollywood & Vine from breakfast through lunch for more singing, dancing and playing. Across the lunch buffet, find kid- and adult-friendly entrees, such as baked chicken and assorted deli selections.

My two suggestions are always, Kona (any meal any time) or Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch ( I dream about that pot roast). My kids enjoy them both as well.
