If WDW commits themselves to this new style it would have to mean a complete refurb of 80%+ of the resort, grand concourse, lobby and all, right? This is a drastic change to the over scheme of the hotel. Looks like its getting the first class treatment it deserves.

WOW, those new rooms look fabulous!! I'm so happy to see the Contemporary get the renovation attention it deserves! Looking forward to staying there in 2007.

Wow! That's very nice. The flat screen TV is nice too. I wish I could stay there. Anyone willing to donate to the "Send Miri to the Contemporary Fund"? :p

Now that's definitely up to the standards I would expect from a deluxe resort. We'll have to stay there once the renovations are complete enough.

After seeing those, now I definitely would consider staying there. Those really are "contemporary" rooms. Beautiful!! The only thing that worries me is when they get to the lobby. Does anyone know what they are planning to do about the giant Native American mosiac? Please don't tell me they are planning to remove. I actually never understood why it was there and why it was called the Grand Canyon concourse but I think it is beautiful and brings back a lot of memories every time I see it.

AWESOME !!!! It looks like The Contemporary is heading in the right direction. Hope the lobby renovation is done with the same total commitment and then maybe they'll do some work on the pool.

I know you were joking, Moustronaut, but I'd say about a decade. The W hotel chain, owned by Starwood resorts, adopted this same kind of minimalist European style back in 2000. It's proved very popular and W hotels have popped up everywhere. I'm surprised Disney didn't do something like this to the Contemporary sooner.

That's great! Although the individual guest rooms needed the redo badly, I think this work was spurred in some part because of the shabbyness of the concierge rooms and VP suite. The furniture especially needed replacement. So, what better time to change the whole decor?

I love the new look as well. It doesn’t quite seem as “Disney” to me, but I think that will change once I stay there. Definitely upscale. Does anyone know when they plan to do the tower?

wow, i agree with the masses..... those rooms look kick butt. i wish i could afford to stay there (or find a VC member, hog -tie them and steal their member card) but that wouldnt be nice. :rolleyes:

Lovely indeed. It just looks so much more...elegant. Very nice. I've never stayed there (thought about it, but never in the budget) but boy, I'd really want to if it all looked so nice as that.

AMAZING. It doesn't look very Disney at all though. It's the kind of hotel you expect in London, New York etc. Please tell me they are doing something with the pool.... It's awful. The moderates - infact value resorts are better.
