Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Thomas O. Staggs may be in line to someday head the parent company, reports the St. Petersburg Times. Before being named to head the theme park division, Staggs was The Walt Disney Co.'s chief financial officer.
Burbank, Calif.-based Disney (NYSE: DIS) operates the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios theme parks in Orlando.

Godfather Iger keeps his friends close, but his enemies closer. Staggs will stay as the underboss of this or that for a long while. His contract will be up or he will be sleeping with the Disney fishes long before he gets anywhere near becoming the next head of the Disney crime family.

I have to kindly disagree here. I think that the point of the switch was to set Staggs up to become the eventual succesor to Iger. The main complaint the board had about Staggs was his lack of operational leadership, which is what this change helped him gain. A lot of major companies make changes like this in order to set up succesion plans (JPMorgan is one that has done a lot of this shifting lately which has led to a number of rumors about Jamie Dimon's succesor).

I always thought that Staggs would be President while Iger would be CEO since there has not been a Company President since Iger took the helm. I could see him getting Prez and then Al Weiss going to his current slot as Chairman-WDPR.
