The more I see of it the less impressed I am.
At least in keeping with the way the first "Cars" was a re-make of "Doc Hollywood" this one is a re-make of "The Man Called Flintstone."

Pixar movies, like all good movies, are supposed to be exercises in storytelling.
This one seems to be an exercise in merchandising and a vanity project for John Lasseter's hobbies.

I really hope I'm wrong, and I'm sure it will make a lot of money either way, but this looks awful.

Despite being a huge Pixar fan, I'm skeptical. Whereas essentially every other Pixar film ranked as a modern classic in my mind, Cars was just pretty good, making it my least favorite Pixar film alongside A Bug's Life. I like the spy angle in the sequel, but my biggest fear is that Mater will be over-used. The international locales should look beautiful. In Pixar I trust, they're just making it more difficult this time.

I'm gonna take my kids to see it but I'm not looking forward to this one. Seems like the storyline is just a way to garner a wider international audience.

I don't think I'm going to see this at all. The plot just seems like too far of a reach to actually be enjoyable. Also I'm not really a fan of the Cars Franchise, and I can't stand Larry the Cable Guy either. Gonna skip out on this one and hope Pixar learns that they may have obliterated a unimprssive franchise.

Yeah, Cars 1 ended up being a LOT better than I thought, but it's definitely not my favorite Pixar movie. It's one thing to make a movie about anthropomorphic cars racing, but it's another thing entirely to make a movie about anthropomorphic cars being secret agents. It just seems... lame.

But then again, Pixar has yet to disappoint me, and Cars 1 turned out to be pretty damn good, so who knows? I wouldn't be surprised at all if this turned out to be a great little movie, it's just a hard sell for me personally.

And yeah, Larry the Cable Guy is awful. But again, Pixar has the magic touch and made him completely tolerable in Cars 1...
