"REAL" sailors refer to boats that are 100% dependent on engine power as "stinkpotters" due to the smell of fuel. (Also, due to the fact that many people who use power watercraft appear to have no knowledge of seamanship; no ALL sailors do, but they usually have at least a working knowledge as to what makes their boat "go." ) There have been many times when we've (the race crew) have lost precious time due to a "stinkpotter" entering the race course, and refusing to give us right of way (which a sail powered boat has over a motorized boat except for special situations), forcing a tack to a less desirable position.

Same thing with crew; boat wakes aren't a lot of fun...you're using energy to prevent capsizing which SHOULD be used to propel the shell forward.

However, sailors/rowers NEVER use the term when referring to the power boat giving them a tow or USCG boat performing a rescue. :lol:

Are u gonna keep it at a dry dock place: i reccomend it because of rust and these green thingings that are on the bottom.

Well Droped our first cray pot on NYE - went in to retrieve it 6hrs in to 2004 - was incrediably rough, nearly smashed in to rocks, lost engine power, lost the pot - but suprisenly i was more ________ scared on Splash!

There you go, Splash is more scarier the first time than a near death experience!
