Yes, there seems to be the implication is that a denial of service attack like this is pretty standard and if Disney just had decent IT they would have been prepared and able to swat it away pretty easily. I don't know enough about these things to know if that's true or not or if it is indeed just schadenfreude.

The Disney site being overload and failing is not something unusual.
The DDos attack is unusual and unsubstantiated. Sure there are people who do them for fun but it’s not like it’s something needed to cause issues with Disney’s website.
Disney has announced The Beak and Barrel reservations open August 20, 2025 at 7pm ET.

It routes the dining through the queue - at the moment, it passes straight through.

Ummmm. So I click it in the app. See that it takes me to the Reservation Website. Click on B&B and see nothing about a virtual queue. Link? Screenshot?

But basically, the queue will automatically hold users once they click the reservation link. It will then pass them through to the reservation screen when capacity allows. So this is not like a ride VQ, you don't have to do anything. The website does it for you.

If you are doing this now, when you click “Check Dinning Availability “ in the app, you will see the first page that loads quickly is queue.disneyworld then immediately takes you to the reservation page. Currently the site has plenty of capacity to book reservations, therefore, you get through immediately to book. Assuming closer to 7, the queue will fill up and the queue holding page will appear.
