New Awful Security Screening Process

I am starting to take security personally. A few months ago they pulled my best friend aside and pretty much patted him down in search of a THC pen because he "fit the description of someone who was toking in the parks." It was extremely unsettling and we went to City Hall but of course they didn't do anything.

More recently, me and my partner celebrated her bday at Napa Rose and took our food to go. At the checkpoint they asked me to open every container. I said "that's pretty gross, sir, and I just spent $500 on this food but if it will please you, sure." It was pretty ridiculous and everyone around said it was definitely uncalled for. But whateva....

Totally ridiculous.

Unfortunately, this is one of the cases in life where we can't have nice things because a small group of people ruin it for us. It also doesn't help when you know in your own heart that you are completely innocent and that makes what they do feel more intrusive.

Also unfortunately, small containers are perfect hiding spots for people to stash prohibited and illegal substances. I'm sure many people have tried. White powdery substances are probably going to be the most scrutinized.

Will probably have pitchforks out for me here, but the job of Disneyland security is not to be law enforcement - it's guest safety. They're supposed to be looking for weapons - not rooting around to see if you forgot a couple weed gummies from last year's Coachella in your coin purse, which poses no risk to anyone at the resort.

WDW and Knott's are able to use the contactless scanners. Universal uses traditional airport style x-rays. In none of those cases does a security guard need to pull out someone's retainer and fondle it like they do at Disneyland.

His name wasn't Kevin, was it? This brought back some memories for me. Back in 2018, we were bringing nachos from the Grand Californian lounge back to our room at DLH. We had to exit GCH into DTD to get there. The security guard at that entrance made us open our small box of nachos to be inspected. We were also very put off by this.

We joke about Kevin to this day. I read your story to my daughter (who was with me on that trip). She laughed and said "is Kevin still there?"

You all complain but still keep going back and spending thousands of dollars on the place. Are you all that addicted to the place? Was a $500 dinner worth the bad service and security hassle?

The dinner wasn't even worth $500 so the security fiasco was a rotten cherry on top. Also, I don't do it for myself. Like many of us, we do it for the fam. Like our parents did for us. I've been clean of my Disneyland addiction since Galaxy's Edge.

Did they enjoy it? Is the family still talking about it?

One time I went through security and the security guard put his hands all up and down on me.

It's only a $45 upcharge.

I don’t believe Disney security is allowed to touch you.
What makes you believe that?

"All persons, bags, parcels, clothing and other items may be subject to screening/security checks."

No where does it claim that Security can't touch you as part of the security check. But it does indicate that a person may be subject to screening/security check, which most people should understand to mean simple pat downs as needed.
