1900-1940. A few buildings are built, but they're just sitting there waiting to be finished. No one's wuite sure when Disney will restart construction on it. There's a few threads on the topic scattered around here, all you need to do is search for them.

I've heard the rumor that they are all going to be the new "Family Suites" like the ones they put at one of the All-Star resorts (music, I think). Those family suites look very nice and are the size of two regular rooms. The price of very nice, too, for the room you get. They have pictures at allearsnet.com. Go check it out!:D

Stopped Construction

I believe that construction was stopped post 9/11 due to a decline in people traveling and hotel rooms not filling.

The hope is that with an upswing in the number of people starting to return to flying etc. that phase II will restart construction in the next couple of years

I think the main reason, as I think Jim Hill said, was the slow down of travel following 9/11 the entire resort sat empty for a few years. They have been getting closer and closer to the numbers to warrent the opening of "The Early Years" area, but I have a feeling it might go through a change in theme. All the main rumors are that entire side will become family suites, much like they are doing at the All-Stars. If that is the case I don't think a young family w/2.5 kids would really get to excited over the first Ford car or the printing press.

i think the empty/deserted buildings facing PC should be turned into pop century suites. seems the buildings already it would seem a shame to tear it down and disguard it.
they could connect the bridge and have 2 separate busses running one for PC and the other for PC suites! so that way people could get the bus to PC and walk across to PC suites.

the building being the way it is, is an eyesore!!

during the last days of my holiday i saw a man in a flouresent jacket and hard hat wearing a suite and a clip board walking around the legendary years and writing on the clipboard.

it would be nice if they did something with the building.

They're not going to tear them down. They were planned to be built, Disney just never got around to it because the extra rooms weren't needed. With the title Pop Century, the second half of the resort HAS to be built.

Otherwise they would need to change the name of the resort to Pop Half-Century.

Most likely it had to do with the family suites that are opening at All Star Music in the next month or so. I think a few of them are going to be open in June. That's the closest thing on the horizon regarding anything new with a resort.

on another thread a while ago someone said that they where going to be torn down and built from scratch again to fit in suites or for another resort but why dont they just knock the walls down to make the rooms bigger to which they can be made in to suites.

having seen this building from the other side of hourglass lake it does need something doing to it. i would of liked to have gone walking around the other half to get a detailed look but the bridge was good enough.

it would be nice to see work started on it again whether it does become legendary years or the 50's -90's suites. whatever happens would be a major improvement from what it is now.

i did like the half century thing.

Let's hope Disney finishes them and gets the new suites up and running and established as a good place to stay, because if in a year we have $5 gallons of gas, the demand for hotel rooms may go right back down again, as happened in 1973.

is this going to be seperate with its own busses and food court?
It will have a separate food court, though whether or not it will share buses w/ Classic Years remains less clear at this point.

I remember more than a year ago the rumor was the 2nd 1/2 was going to be suites. It seems more than a coincidence that suites were converted at the All stars,I think they are just feeling out the idea first.I believe as soon as the new family suites prove to be as successful as we all think they will rapidly restart construction at POP. That is of course depending on the price-if they raise the prices to $250 a night then I'd expect a flop.

I would love to see what Disney would do from 00s to the 40s. Any ideas because I dont. . I love Pop century. I stood there the beginning of this month. It is now my favorite resort. And I am going back in June. Can not wait.

Well, as I understand it, there are only three buildings already built - and those are just skeletons. If they plan on making suites, they can just leave those as normal rooms and build the other 7+ buildings as suites. Do they really need 10 buildings of suites?
