Does anyone have a picture of this Dragon? I got to ride the boats on my first visit to AK, (1999ish) and the beastie had already moved on. Is it true they moved it to Disney Seas?

There was never an actual dragon there, just his flame erupting from the cave.
They built a dragon...but the general public never saw it

As far as I know there is no dragon at DisneySea. There IS one under the castle in Paris, and the flame effect is still in use at Disney Studios Paris as part of a "Reign of Fire" exhibit.

I have a photo of the fiery cave and old logo in my gallery.

The never had a actual dragon anywhere on the river. When you used to pass the cave, you can see off the bridge to CMM, fire used to come out of it early on. They also had at one time knights lances along with a few other things over there, but those were gone way early. Along the river they used to have gysers going off every few minutes by Africa (didn't see them go at all this trip) and over by Dinoland they had a Dino (AA maybe never heard for sure) playing in the river.

Here is a link to some pics and info of the long lost Discovery River Boats:

That would be interesting if they redesigned the logo a year and a half before Everest actually opens. Any word on when it will appear?

Wouldn't it be smarter to wait 'til they come up with something for the other side of AK...I mean you have the tree of life in the center of the park, and E:E on one side...wouldn't the logo be nicer with "landmarks" on either side of the tree...as opposed to just the tree on one side and the mountain on the other?

btw...are there any new rumblings and/or rumors as to the future of Camp Minnie Mickey?

I am surprised Animal Kingdom isn't getting a new icon like Mickey's shoes or his red coat. We have his hat at the studios and his arm and wand at Epcot. We need more Mickey parts!

When AK first opened, you could ride around Discovery River on the Discovery River Boats. In some areas along the river, they had little teasers about each land. Near Dinoland, there was a dinosaur standing in the water, and near where Beastly Kingdom was planned, there was a rocky cave. When you sailed past the cave the CM told you that a dragon lived there and you would have to sneak past. Suddenly, a huge fireball erupts from the cave. Looks like you woke him up. That's pretty much it. As I said in my post above, there is a photo of the cave in my gallery.

There is also a dragon in Cinderella's Castle Mystery Tour at Tokyo Disneyland.

I would say no. With them almost rebuilding the whole Fest of the Lion King area I would say that is not going anywhere fast. I think if anything is going to happen to that area it will be an expansions of the meet and greet areas.

Please don't turn this into a thread about how BK should have been done.

Hey, be careful. Some Disney exec may take you up on that!

Acutally, the logo that would change is the park logo with the name on the logo. The one with the 5 animals on it, the tree and the name of the park. The logo on plates, cups, and other napkins isn't going anywhere. (That's the logo with just the tree.)

And last but not least, that's a Lion sniffing the Elephant's butt, not a tiger. LMAO.

And I hear that big ears might be added to the tree next year... j/k

Would someone be so kind as to describe where the "Dragon's Cave" can be seen from?

Thx!

Certainly. Head toward Camp Minnie Mickey (where Festival of the Lion King is). When you get to the bridge, stop and go to the right side. On the left side of the waterway you will see a charred rock formation. This is where the dragon cave is.

I remember back in the day where Disney was announcing its "WILD ANIMAL KINGDOM. . . " (Gotta love the dragons!)
Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. (It's in the bottom of my drawer somewhere, really!)
