Someone posted a photo of the backside of the Mine Train from the D23 model, and it appears that there will be a small kiosk themed to the Little Mermaid nestled in the back of the mountain. I can't remember if it was merchandise or food, though.

Here is a picture of the back side of the mine train from this site.

That definitely looks like it goes with the Little Mermaid.
It's probably just a small gift shop or food stand.

What I'm most worried about is the clashing of the two stories and themes.

That's the one!

I'm kind of disappointed it will be a DVC kiosk, but I think it's good that the Mermaid area won't be something that just exists on one side of the walkway. As for the Mine Coaster fitting in with the Mermaid area, it looks like they're using the same style of rolling hills and cliffsides in both facades, so I think everything will fit together quite nicely.

I don't know, it looks more like an area to sit and eat than a DVC Kiosk. I agree that the back side of the mountain appears to match the look of Little mermaid. I think it is going to fit in really nicely.

The transition I worry about is the one between mermaid and Belle's village.

If we are talking about the little open air stand with the striped canopy, the first thing that comes to mind is a fruit/snack stand. The second thing is DVC kiosk.

There was a DVC kiosk in the original leaked blueprints, somewhere between Mermaid and the tents. And I think we "lost" one when they closed Ariel's Grotto and Scuttle's Landing. So the awning as a DVC kiosk is highly likely.

As for the transition between Belle's Village and Mermaid, I'm thinking the merchandise location with its back to Mermaid (Bonjour Gifts, I think) will probably help visually separate things while you're standing *in* the village. And depending on how that building is themed on the sides facing Mermaid, plus rockwork along the walkway, could help with the transition. I'm also thinking that you won't see much of the actual Mine Coaster from the village and Mermaid areas, which will help.

seven dwarfs coal mine train ride

Has anyone noticed the 2 different pictures released of the new Fantasyland that shows a castle/house where the seven dwarfs ride in one pic, and the other pic just shows hills and trees. I also noticed at the disney christmas day parade they quickly showed a picture of the new fantasyland that had a castle where the seven dwarfs ride is. Which one do you think it will be?

The top picture is older art with the princess meet and greet locations in the middle of the expansion. This was eliminated some time back and replaced with the mine ride which is what is shown in the bottom picture. I saw the Fantasyland segment in the parade also, not sure why they showed the old art.

Yea I saw the same thing. I actually laughed out loud when I saw it. It also had the old pixie hollow area instead of the updated tents. You would think whoever put that segment together would have at least used the most up to date art.... but then again maybe the segment was edited before the change???

Construction

These are the other pictures of the construction I was able to obtain between Dec. 21-27, 2011. My husband said they should have holes in the fence so you could take a peak.

Some good shots of the main Utilidor entrance on those shots (where the cast member bus is stopping next to the purple tent). I remember having to stand under that tent on many a rainy day...

They show a structure there, but it is unlabled.
Likely the structure will be food/merch combined with the maint. for 7DMR.

Thanks for the info! I do like the look of the structure that is pictured in the model! I can only assume that there would be a dedicated shop for Little Mermaid stuff... isn't that merch still fairly popular!?!
