My question is why is the Premium pass $205.00 less for Florida than California.

Cant wait to see if Tommy responds to this question on the parks blog

Us too. We stopped using our Disney Visa a few years ago and got a Chase Freedom instead. With the year-round 1% and quarterly 5% (on certain things), it does wonders for our trip budgets.

But it's going to take more than that to absorb these perpetual ticket hikes.

Ditto. I still have the Disney Visa as an open line of credit, but it's only for its age and due to the minimal perks of the card. Far, far better cards to have, and I've never quite understood the, "but this gives me free money for vacations" argument. It very well may, but you can get more "free money" by using a better card and then just setting aside that (greater amount of) cashback for vacations.

The Premier AP increase is the killer for me. We've never held them due to expiration dates on our WDW and DLR APs being about 5 months apart (they don't prorate) and getting good DVC discounts on our WDW AP, but we were planning on not visiting WDW after those APs expired and just getting the Premier for 2014...

Anyone whos willing to pay $850 would be willing to pay $979 is my motto. Or more.

Serious question, having seen what Tokyo, Paris, and DL have to offer, is there really a need to have WDW APs at this point for you? If I were in the midwest, I know Id be rethinking spending the usual 2 weeks in FL with my changes in vacation patterns.

I got the Disney Visa mostly because I liked the idea of having a red/pink card with pixie dust on it. I knew there were better deals to be found, but the points thing seemed pretty easy and straight-forward, unlike so many card companies. And it was so pretty.

Then they came out with characters on the card. Too cute!!

I dropped it because it was always getting turned down for fraud protection. If that hadn't happened, I'd probably still have the account, lol.

I do have a better deal with my new card. I don't remember what kind it is...but it is black and ugly.

Disney just got destroyed on CNN for their ticket increases.
I am sure Disney will say be using, as always, there great maketing skills to explain why these prices are needed and not out of wack for the product they produce for the public.... I don't think they care what CNN or we the public says. Back in 2001 or 2008 did ticket or hotel prices go up at WDW? It will keep some away but the public will continue to go. Maybe not as long as they use to go. Can't wait to see how much hotel prices go up at WDW later this year............

Maybe the cost difference is because Florida residences don't pay state taxes? The entire economy in Florida is based on tourism from the other states and around the world.

If I could visit Tokyo whenever I wanted, I would probably never go back to WDW. The issue for me is really in terms of time. I can leave after work on a Friday and be in Epcot in time for Illuminations that night. I can leave the parks at 6 pm on Sunday and be back home early Sunday night. If I am gone from work a day or two here or there, it's no big deal because I can just make it up the following weekend. It's difficult to do a weekend or long weekend anywhere besides WDW or DLR (even when going to DLR, our last day is basically lost to traveling).

Ah, multiple short trips, I can see that working for you. Thanks

You don't really think any front line CM's will see one cent of this increase, do you?
The point was, people get caught up on the idealistic nature of the Disney content and forget that its a business (raises happen, CMs notwithstanding - you can't keep good employees without them). You (the general public) can complain about it or you can do something about it. I choose to do something about it by cutting my trips in half. Disney doesn't care about my measly few thousand dollars but hopefully lots of folks will eventually affect the "bottom line". And all big companies are top heavy when it comes to salaries - its just the way it is.

Those rates are super easy to justify. People are willing to pay them. If people are willing to pay the high prices, how could they justify NOT charging them accordingly?
You know what I mean...they can justify it by the fact that people are foolish naive enough to pay it, but Disney management shouldn't be able to sleep nights

Not that I am justifying anything, but I always try to break it down based on an hourly rate, haha. So, $95 a day / 12 hours (sometimes more) is $7.91 an hour to go to the park. Which, for entertainment value...still seems worth it to me.
