Nervous about Star Tour 2 "Upgrades"

Am I the only one who is nervous about the Star Tours upgrade? Star Tours is something that I grew up dreaming of going on and still remember walking towards the Snow speeder in 1991 and being on top of the world with excitement, the entire attraction has such an untouchable charm to it and honestly I'm afraid what Lucas might influence Disney to do with it. Sure it will be upgraded but I really hope that by "upgrades" it simply doesnt mean showering the attraction with prequel influences...

Why not keep the original attraction along with the new one? People could then choose when walking in what "tour" they would like to take.

Star Tours was my favorite ride as a kid and I still love it, but purely for the cheese factor. It's a ride I go on and laugh because it's so outdated, it's no longer thrilling.

So I welcome the new version, as long as they throw in some references to the original (the new queue video did a good job with the original ST chime) I'll be a happy camper.

I'm sure if they chose to keep both, there'd be people complaining about that too.

Actually my six yo son who is an advid star wars fan, was quite upset that we never made it to Endor the five times we rode it. I'm looking forward to the change. Prequil influence or not as long as the story makes sense I'm ok with it.

Really' The only reason people dislike the Prequels is because they were 7 when the Originals came out and they think the Prequels did not live up to their memories of the first 3. Those of us who grew up with the Prequels think they are awesome.

This is a case of 'speak for yourself'. I was 10 when the prequels came out and I think they are anything BUT awesome. For the most part I'd like to act like they don't exist, many others my age feel the same way.

There's a lot more reasons why people prefer the originals other than "they were 7 when they came out".

Or ... the originals had actors with charisma and an interesting (yet easy to follow) good vs. evil story. The prequels? Not so much.

As for the ride upgrades? If it is focused on the original trilogy, I'm sure it will be great. If I have to watch a pod race between characters I don't know and don't care about, then they wasted an opportunity, imo.

Fine' leave them to the real fans. It's part of an overarching story so you hate one you hate them all.

The vast majority of Star Wars fans feel the same way I do, so... you can have them.

If enjoying those terrible films is what makes someone a "real" fan, then call me a fake one.
Can I see the statistics? You are entitled to your opinion. No matter how much I don't understand it.

Not really. It doesn't work that way. I like what I like and I hate what I hate. When one set of films comes on TV, I watch. When the other set comes on, I change the channel.

So, back to Star Tours...

I've been riding and loving Star Tours since 1987, but I agree it's time for a change. Even when the attraction was brand new there was talk about how "new destinations" were an almost immediate possibility, based on the actual infrastructure of the ride.

Yet it's going to have taken 24 years before getting any form of update of the ride. This update is long overdue, but I'm glad they're putting some serious technology upgrades into the ride and not "just" a new film.

Star Tours was genuinely cutting edge and groundbreaking for it's time, back when non-Disney crossovers were unheard of and before every mall in America had a motion simulator ride. This new update promises to return Star Tours to its former grandeur and I'm really excited about it.
