Negative Changes at Le Cellier?

It's easy to blame DDP, but some sort of DDP has been around since at least 2000. The food quality has only went down since 2005.

Disney inflate the price for non DDP to force people to go to the DDP. It's Disney taking advantage of the plan over years.

It's the DDP.

With the DDP there are many people who eat at the TS restaurants that never did before because they couldn't afford it, just look through these boards and you will find many postings to that effect. So essentially what Disney has with the DDP is:

1) you pre-pay your meals (Disney gets money sooner, a good thing for any business)

2) you really have to work the system to get your money's worth, and even better for Disney, most people don't even mind! They like the convenience of pre-paying even if they do not get the full value

3) the customer base is less discerning (those people who normally wouldn't eat at a TS restaurant likely don't do fine dining much at home either)

All of this adds up to:

1) less selection (a restaurant manager would be foolish to offer a $50 entree if 90% of the people who would buy it are on the DDP)

2) less overall quality

3) less availability for ADR's

I don't blame Disney for having the DDP, but I hate it!

For those of use who used to enjoy going to a TS restaurant with a same-day reservation, and for those who enjoyed some of the nicer selections that are now gone from the menu and for those who enjoyed really high-quality food at WDW, do what I do. Rent a car and go off property to eat. Oh and as a bonus the money you save can pay for the car and you get the flexibility a car offers you.

Of course the fact is the masses will continue to pay for the plan, even with the HUGE increase in price (getting rid of appetizer AND gratuity and only lowering the price $1 is the eqivalent of a HUGE increase). I hope I am wrong but I doubt it.

Have you ever heard of the Dream Maker Packages that were originally offered - Gold Plan, Silver Plan, Prince and Princess Plan, Romance Package etc. etc.

a Pre Paid program has been around for ages. Disney has watered down the plan to make more profit, just like everything else.

I agree and don't like what they are doing to the plan. The fact is there are more people coming to the parks that is making ADR more difficult. Also, Disney is jacking the price to force people into a pre paid plan. That I don't like. Give it time it will change.

You can't be serious! A restaurant takes one item from an extensive, high-quality menu and changes it ever-so-slightly [maple glaze is now mushroom-stuffed] and you don't want to ever eat there again because you've never even tried anything else and don't want to? Are you two years old?

Perhaps if you stomp your feet in the Le Cellier lobby and pout they'll change it back for you.

You know, it is kind of silly to stop eating at a restaurant just b/c they took one thing, albeit your favorite, off the menu. You should go anyway and just look at it as a reason to venture out. But don't go in thinking it's your last time, try something different, keep an open mind and don't think of it as a good bye.

But if you do, it's just another opening for everyone else! :animwink:

I can be serious because there are many other restaurants
to pick to dine at.
its like some people choose not to goto walmart to shop for specific reasons, albeit the cleanliness, customer service, etc.
Same here, there was one dish I really really liked and ordered everytime we went there. No desire to try the other items and now no desire to
go back, thats an issue? Thats being a 2 year old?
Its called a choice. Do I HAVE to try something else?
If i walked into a restaurant you owned are you going to force me to
order something I dont want to try?
I honestly would not consider Le Celliar High Quality.

THank you very much for that link....Alas a constructive response for once, I do see it as a reason to venture to a new restaurant and try something new.
