The Indiana Jones ride, how intense is it? I've ridden most of the thrill rides at WDW (including Dinosaur and I know they have the same type ride vehicles) and I've been watching videos but how "scary" is it?

Sooo this is a few days old, but I just wanted to say this: Dinosaur scares the pants off me and I don't scare easily on rides. But I absolutely loved Indy.
So it's not quite as "scary" as Dinosaur IMO.

I did Disneyland solo last year and it was the one of the best vacations I've ever had. Have fun!

Small world indeed.

Talked with the Syracuse rowing team out in San Diego in April (I was there watching my daughter)...and they remarked that the Clemson team put their colors to shame...and they are supposed to be the Orangemen....

Yeah that seemed to happen to a lot of our sports teams this year... oh well. next year maybe will be better.

Thanks! Dinosaur scared me the first time but in a good way... i just tend to get a lot of anxiety going onto rides and so I end up psyching myself out. It wouldn't be the actual motion of the car but rather the theming that freaks me out. I've been watching videos though and I will definitely take your opinion to heart. I am so excited. This is going to be the first time that I will be at a park by myself so I'm a little anxious but excited to take things at my own pace. As a solo traveler is there anything I should take advantage of?

Also, I've been looking at places to stay *preferably in walking distance* and I'm having trouble deciding. Is it worth the extra $$$ to stay right across from DD or are the hotels that are off the north side fo the property alright?

There are plenty of very reasonable hotels right across the steet on South Harbor Blvd. Howard Johnson's, Fairfield, Quality Inn and Best Western are all good, and only $100-$130. All 10 minutes walk from the parks.

New Batch of Questions

Hey! Okay so I've brainstormed a few more questions for my upcoming trip.

1) What at lunch hours for the restaurants in DL (specifically Blue Bayou) and is the reservation service about the same as WDW?

2) I'm getting into Orange County Airport (SNA) around 6:45 and I'm trying to make the most of my brief trip, is there a good place to watch the fireworks that doesn't include park admission and they pipe in the music? or I was thinking about spending the extra $30 and getting a three day park hopper would it be worth it?

3) Is the ART good/usually reliable (every 20-30 minutes)? I'm staying at the Holiday Inn Express on Katella and was wondering if I could get into the parking lot on the corner of Katella and S Harbor and take the tram to the main area, is everything fenced off?

... this is it... for now.:D

You can call (714) 781-DINE to make reservations for any restaurant. I don't know if they have the 180 day rule though.

The esplanade and DTD pipe music through the speakers. You can get a great view from the esplanade or by Rainforest Cafe in DTD (I think it's Rainforest...). Willl you be able to see the fireworks in the park on another day? If you aren't, then I would definitely bump up to a 3 day park hopper. The fireworks are amazing and should be seen right in front of the castle.

I think they have a 90 day rule in DL, but I'm not positive.

I used the ART when I was there, and I never waited more than 15 minutes for the bus. It was very convenient as I am lazy. :D I walked to the park my first day, and, including walking through the park, it was too much for me and my bad knee. I've heard of people getting into the parking lot and catching the tram to the entrance, but I didn't try it.

Very hot! High 90s-100s. There's no humidity like Florida, thankfully. And since we're a desert, the mornings and evenings might get cool. Oh, and no rain...usually. If it does, it won't last long.

Thank you thank you thank you!! I always love these boards because I can always find what I need and then some. Great people=great boards.:sohappy:

yet another question...

So I'm planning on being there at or close to the opening of DL, is there a "good Morning" show at park opening like at MK? I love these shows. When I was little we NEVER were there for the very opening of the parks but on my last visit to WDW I finally saw MK opening and to put it lightly... it was magical and the perfect start to my day ( i actual teared up). So I would love to see another park opening!

There isn't a show like WDW. They let people on Main Street before opening (smart move by Disney, makes everyone look around in the shops ) and rope it off at the end of the street, before the hub. Then when 8:00 rolls around (or whatever time it opens), a recording comes on and a guy talks about Disneyland. Then when the rope drops, they play the "Welcome" showstop music from the PoD. It's not like MK's opening, but I love walking into the park to Welcome...it gives me chills.

I think they used to have a little show with the band and some characters years ago in front of the Mickey floral, but now they let people on Main Street.

Thanks Nicole... that actual is perfect for me. I wanted to "be on main street" before starting my day so this will allow me to do that without missing out. Thanks!

I'm getting so excited!!!

last minute questions...

so I'm leaving thursday!!!:sohappy: and I have just a few more questions...

1. Do all the DL lands open at the same time? (I know at MK some areas open an hour later)

2. Should I buy an ART pass? I'm staying at the holiday inn express on Katella and I feel like walking will work for me in the morning but at night I may not want to. Is it worth it?

3. Any other tips!

To answer number one, yes, they open at the same time except for ToonTown. ToonTown I believe doesn't open until an hour after opening.

Friday will be the best day to see Disneyland, while Saturday will be the best day to see DCA and then head back to Disneyland at night for anything you may have missed. There are a lot more rides packed into Disneyland than Magic Kingdom, plus a lot more major and minor entertainment packed into Disneyland than any park in WDW, so you need to maximize your time to see and do most of the big and/or unique stuff in only two days.

Saturday is busier at Disneyland because all of the locals go to spend the day, while DCA stays pretty quiet on a Saturday because no self-respecting SoCal'er would pay good money to go into DCA for the day. DCA is full of tourists, and Saturday is surprisingly quiet at DCA.

See the other dozen threads in this forum for all of the rest of the "First Time Going To Disneyland And I Need Help!" posts from people who live east of the Rocky Mountains. There are many rides you simply can't miss at Disneyland, and many rides you will have never heard of being from back East.

You can't go into Disneyland thinking it's the Magic Kingdom. It's very different and you don't want to screw it up if you don't live locally and can't just go back again six months later. Don't mess this up!

Thanks for the great information. I've been cruising the other threads so I've absorbed some other information but thank you so much for the advice!

I was already planning on going to DL on Friday so that is reassuring information. thanks!
