If Tiki was the first attraction with animatronics, then I suppose that was the first bunch character... unless you mean something else when you say "character"...

Thanks for the reply this is what I have )

The word Audio-animatronics in my understanding is for the "Great moments with Mr. Lincoln" and the "Tiki Room" although my brother is saying that there had to be a Audio-animatronics Disney Character before there was any attractions, or could there had been one before the attractions????

I have been searching and searching and can only find the info above. I do know that Mr. Disney went to Europe and brought back an Audio-Animatronic bird that he had the company take apart to see the working of the bird. That is what the Worlds Fair attractions where based on. The only other thing that I can think of is the " Mary Poppins Movie ".
I do remember that in the movie there was a robin on her hand during the song at the window. I also remember the umbrella parrot???? Could that parrot be the first AA character?? Did it have a name????

In closing I wish to thank you all for the time and help ) you web site is the best and my family and I have loved surfing it. You are the only people that reply to questions with real interest.

Thanks Again and Again
TINK )

The first ever animatronic was one that Walt built himself - a minature stage with a dancing figure based upon footage filmed of Buddy Ebsen. This I believe is considered the grand daddy of all the animatronic figures to come after it.

I can't recal if it is the original or a recreation, but one or the other is on display in the Studios at the "One Man's Dream" exhibition.

I am pretty sure it is the original. It looks exactly like the one from the archive photos. Walt was at one time planning on making a bunch of miniature animatronics to go on tour. This was way before Disneyland.

need some help - reply ) one more quick question

First thanks thanks thanks for all the info )

I have more info now to hit my brother with BIG THANKS, I have also learned that this all started in the 1955's with a 100-year-old antique automaton of a bird in a gilded cage that Mr. D bought in a trip to New Oleans this was the very beings. This has been a great learning all of the info.

One quick question please regarding the photos DarkMeasures--- is there a place to view this of the org. " The Dancing Man"???????? Also, did you know that Mr. D also put a " Barbershop Quartet " together in 1952 at the Festival of California Living. This was based on So Dear To My Heart. I believe this was called " Granny Kincaid's Cabin ". < From the book by Bob Thomas, Walt Disney: An American Original.

Again thanks for all the help and time lol sorry about the one more question.
love this site !!!! pixie dust for you all **** *** *** **

I was fortunate enough to be able to see One Man's Dream for the first time ever on Monday. I had no Idea that they had that there until I got there. I got a a picture of it, if you want I can post it. Is said that it is the prototype animatronic figure, which in that case, then yes, it is the grand daddy of all animatronics :D .

Yep, barnum hit it on the head...

The Dancing Man was modeled after good ol' Jed Clampett  (Buddy Ebsen). One Man's Dream does have it on display. (Don't walk through the attraction too fast or you'll walk right by him)

(BTW you can control an animatronic in that attraction too)
