Need some advice on resort Change

So currently we are booked for our vacation to the World in August and we are staying at Coronado Springs. I was looking today on Disney's site and the cost difference to move to the Wilderness Lodge is not all that much for us, but I am not sure if we should upgrade to the deluxe and wanted to get the opinion of others on this site. Especially with the Construction going on at WL. So I guess my question is should we upgrade to the deluxe? There will be four of us Going, DW, two DDs, and myself. This will be our first trip back since 2011 and we stayed at Caribbean Beach last time in the Pirate rooms and loved it. Any opinions on either resort and why we should choose would be great besides the fact that one is a Moderate and one is a Deluxe. Thanks in advance.

We stayed in pirate rooms at CBR on our 2nd last trip too and also loved it. Last Oct we were planning on POFQ but got a great deal on The Contemp, only an added £350 for the week. We LOVED deluxe. We haven't stayed at WL but it's grounds are gorgeous and you're just a boat ride from the MK and the Contemp and so the other monorail resorts. Not sure the impact of the renovations-possibly why there are good deals at the moment? I'm sure you'll have a fab time at either resort.

I am staying at WL in August. I was tempted to switch to Poly/GF or AKL once discounts came out. I decided to stick with WL and get the discount vs paying more for the other three options. the construction is huge, but the main pool and boat to Mk are still there. Plus half the rooms are empty as they are being worked on so that means half the guests to share the pool with on a hot day in August. ( I originally booked a standard room when they first came out and with the new package, i saved $200+ and got a courtyard view.) the $200 is really only about $22 a night though so not a huge savings, but a little extra money to spend!

I would recommend WL. We have stayed there several times and it was great. The hotel itself and the pool are terrific, you could spend hours just in the lobby in a rocking chair checking everything out. The boat ride to the MK is wonderful and of course the Electrical Water Pageant is a must see at least once a trip. Personally the construction wouldn't stop me from staying there.

We would make the jump to the WL. It is an absolutely beautiful hotel. If they still have construction going on when you are there it should mean less resort traffic making it feel a little more laid back. We also love everything being under one roof. We rarely use the pool so that would not make a difference for us one way or another.

No brainer jump to WL, I stayed at Coronado Springs before it just felt like a hotel not a resort to us we stayed for 4 days 3 nights.

It all really depends on what park you plan on visiting the most...I have not personally stayed at CS- however it is one of the closest resorts to AK (other than AKL)... However if you plan on visiting MK the most- WL might be your best bet! Good luck!!!

Thanks Everyone. I went ahead and upgraded today to the WL. I am so excited for our trip. I think I am making the DW crazy with all of the changes and excitement, but it is going to be a great trip.

Woo :) I think its a great choice even with the construction! I dont think you'll regret it one bit!

I think the WL is a good upgrade. I was considering staying there at the beginning of August. I have stayed there before (about 6 years ago) and was amazed with the beauty of it (btw: Coronado Springs overbooked me and moved my party to WL, so that's how I was given the opportunity to stay at WL). I have also stayed at the Contemp. and Poly, and yet think the WL a GREAT place in a FANTASTIC location. The one downfall is the small rooms. It looks like you'll have two kids and two adults, so you should be fine. I have found that some of the moderate (such as POFQ) rooms are bigger, but the proximity to parks and the bus depot at WL is superior. The pool seemed crowded, and with the construction, it may play a greater stress on a more populated resort (pool, dining, etc.).

This may be a once in a lifetime experience. I wouldn't miss it if I were you. You will not be disappointed. Oh, and I do think the staff at WL is tops among the resorts. Twice we were given (free) rides over to the Poly for dinner instead of hiring a cab. They were so, so kind there. We didn't expect it, but I'll sure take those magical gestures any day.

I will add this - our next trip is in August. Because we drive, there's a distinct possibility we might arrive one night ahead of our actual check-in date, so I've been pricing resorts both on-site and in the area. I can say that for at least that particular night in question, Coronado seems to be 100% capacity.

Now August is a long ways away and WL could fill up just as much between then and now. But I'd rather take my chances that WL won't be as crowded if I already know that CS will be packed.

Of course, if you switched, maybe that night at CS is now open.

excuse me...

j/k, we're not even assuming we'll make it to WDW that night, just planning every contingency. I'm basically looking at every resort where we can use our Hilton points along i-95 from Lumberton SC to just next to the i-95/i-4 intersection, as well as in the WDW area, so depending on traffic, we have some potential options all along the way.
