I don't have any answers for you, but my name is also Beth and I am a teacher :)

Last year I pulled myself and my kids out of school for four days for a long weekend trip to WDW so I could run the Princess Half Marathon. It was a great experience for the whole family. My sub did a great job while I was gone, I had a lot of grading to do when I got home but it was manageable and my daughter didn't have a hard time getting caught up with her work.

I am a teacher also. We did August 21-29 last summer. Got free dining and stayed at POR. Would do it again tomorrow if I could. Crowds were lower than average as most schools in south were back in session. It is hot and we did get a few strong rain storms, but as long as you know its going to be hot, plan on using your resort pool and hit the parks in the morning before the heat and in the evenings after the sun sets, it is a great time to visit. It is also a value season. Maybe not the cheapest, but one of the lower prices of the year (plus the free dining),

The first 2 weeks of June or the last 2 weeks of August will be your best option (end of August is the best). Crowds and prices are fairly consistent outside of those 4 weeks. If the aforementioned weeks are not possible, I would just avoid 4th of July.
