:D I have a favor to ask of all of the people who view this message. I have a rather large paper due in Comp Sci tomorrow (Wednesday) right after lunch. We will have time to write a bit more b4 we turn it in. My topic is companies (WDW parks and resorts to be specific. The problem is that I have only foundone source (WDWMagic History section). What I need to do is cite the sources and so forth. Here's where you come in. I am stuck on a section of the paper that deals with personal opinions of the theming of WDW compared to "normal" theme parks. Also, I need some insight on what sets Disney parks apart from other parks. Finally, I needsome opinion on what the future of WDW might be. (Positive & Negative and why.) Thank you so much and I wish all of you the best!!!

Why Disney is better: Walt Disney didn't do this for entertainment. He did it to bring families together. He also presented the themes of progress and peace together in entertaining attractions with classic charm.

Future: Since Disney seems to be going against the above (see the Spaceship Earth 'end of the world' thread in news/rumors for a few more of my posts on this), if they CONTINUE what they're doing, the outlook looks very grim. Kinda like the end of "The World"

Walt built the Fountain-of-youth in Florida. When I go ther I feel like a child again full of awe and wonder. That is what makes Disney World different from other parks, and why I go back each time.

As far as theming? WDW takes it to a completely new level. Everything is perfect and the attention to detail is second to none. Pretty much what everyone else says. It is a place for families to come together. It isn't some old park like  , that all it is is thrill rides and go. As far as the future? I really don't know. My heart says great things because it's Disney, but my mind says that the whole corporate mumbojumbo is going to put a stranglehold on it and kill it.:( It sucks I know, but that's what somethings these multimillionaires decisions make me believe.:o

Disney theming? Can't be beat. I am willing to admit that the reason Disney is so good at theming is that they are well aware that the better the theming, the higher their sales of theme and theme park merchandise, but, still, they're the best. This is a big part of what sets Disney apart from other parks. Disney's theme isn't just characters, either - it's presenting a family atmosphere, making sure there's something for every age group in the family, making accomodations for special-needs guests, general air of cast member friendliness, excellent maintenance, top-notch live entertainment, etc.

Predicting the future of Disney is much tougher. I just LOVE the place, and I sincerely hope that it remains the great place it is, but Disney is a company, too, with stockholders and employees to consider. If anyone can strike the proper balance between profit and quality, disney can.

Hope this is in time!

Disney invented the theme park itself. There is no better place to escape reality than to enter the world of sensual soma that is WDW. Sensual in the sights, sounds, smells, feeling (on the rides), and taste of the quintessential snacks - a Mickey Mouse ice cream bar perhaps? How 'bout some fettucine alfredo at L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante?! Ironically, this "lack" of living at WDW, lack of routine, is the one picker-upper/cure-all/source of life in, at least, me. There is nothing better than a vacation. There is nothing better than a vacation than a vacation at WDW (or any Disney park/resort for that matter). Theming asserts itself EVERYWHERE! It's immersive, from the pseudo sea base at TLS, to the storybook antics of Pooh and pals. From the adventure into the greatest movies of our time, to a wonderous journey into the heart of an African savanna. Disney established that a theme can make or break an experience. So far, all themes that can be found have been for the better. (Let's hope it stays that way!) Anyway, in conclusion, WDW/DL/DLP is the most heavily and tastefully themed place on earth. Detail is EVERYTHING!!!

I voted that it looks exceptional, because I have learned that we have to accept change. No matter what Disney does, they are always going to be the great place we know and love. Even though the new attractions might not be what I am looking for, I realized that they couldn't stay the same forever. I know Horizons and WoM wouldn't have lasted forever, and now I know to accept that with attractions that are proposed in the future. If something happens to SE I will have to accept it. I will just look at it as change, and things change. It is the same for every company, and for every person. This is why I think that Disney is exceptional, and there future to me looks just as good.

I voted "good". They've got the core value system in place, and as long as Walt's dream is always considered as the driving force, they will continue to be a leader. The danger to them is that as they get larger, too many voices may dilute Walt's intentions.

I like change, growth, new attractions etc. I don't mind seeing old attractions torn down if they are replaced by things that have the themeing, quality and forward thinking for which WED strove.

I put outlook good also. Although Disney is still leader there are finally companies that are beginning to ruffle some feathers not too mention that Dinsey doesn't seem to "feel threatened" by anone (which is scary but propably not true). Oddly I think DisneySeas is actually countering against other Disney Parks as the next best thing. And Universal keeps making good attempts at Disney Magic but still fall a little short, none the less they are getting close and have resorts similar to that of Disney. So Disney is the leader but they need to pull theirself futhur forward again. Maybe Reinventing EPCOT is just the ticket to do that if done properly. DCA however, was not. It's not a bad future right now, but Disney needs to keep away from too much Comfort and invest money to make it (and I don't mean buying ABC, Sports Teams, and Cruise Ships either). I know this info comes too late, but it is still a good topic I think to discuss.

Everything before disney was an "amusement park" Disney was the first to create a "theme park"

BTW...I just finished up my research paper on Walt Disney and the creation if Disneyland...all this information was relelvent to me as well!!! (now if i could just figure out how to site a discussion board...lol)
