Need Breakfast/Dinner Advice

ShookieJones

We need time for things to happen.
but I think the frozen-featured, giant-headed Lilo is just a bit spooky...:p

Yeah...Phew..I have to agree with you on this one too. I have to say that aside from not being a big fan of Stitch the character, the over all animation of this cartoon really gets to me.
The bulbous noses and tree trunk limbs....something about it all just freaks me out.....wow...I'm digressing badly ------- enough talk about Lilo and Stitch....

Wherever and whatever your decide: Have a great breakfast and\or dinner and splendid vacation! :)

Crikey, it must have been bad for you to use "disaster" and "Disney" in the same sentence! Was that disaster at the Wave dinner or breakfast? I've always enjoyed my meals there, but have to admit that sometimes my dining companions haven't been as fortunate, and the last time I ate dinner there (six weeks ago), didn't quite measure up to all the times before.

Yes it was a breakfast at The Wave. Everything was wrong that day - service, food, even the decor. It left me never wanting to step foot in there again LOL.

The Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes at Kona are out of this world! The Kona Coffee is excellent as well :) I vote for Kona Cafe for breakfast.

Thanks, it would be more than I could do this trip to get my husband to try Boma. He is a picky eater, and a plain eater (or, just a plain ol' picky eater!!) I see from the photo gallery that they do have "regular" breakfast food at Boma, so it may be something I can work him up to eventually.

Curious, since you both consider Boma the best breakfast buffet on property--what makes it the best?

Everything. The food is incredible. They have "regular" food with an African twist. The service is great. The atmosphere is incredible. My DW's family is not very adventurous eaters and they loved it.

Our favorite breakfast places are;

Kona Cafe - another vote for the macadamia pineapple pancakes, I like the with sausage and a press pot of coffee.

Grand Floridian Cafe - my dear wife's favorite.

Whispering Canyon - our son always gets into "trouble" (and has some fun)with our server.

I thought it would be nice to try out two new restaurants, so...

Dinner: Citricos or Narcoossee's or Kona Cafe?

Breakfast: Kona, Ohana, or the Wave? (we love the Wave for dinner, never been for breakfast)

Couple of planning notes:
  1. Chef Mickey's is not available for breakfast, otherwise that would have been a no-brainer (even though we are two adults, no children!). ;)
  2. I am not that fond of cooked bananas, so probably would not go for Tonga Toast  (I know that's a big draw at Kona, so if it was out of the picture--then how strongly would you recommend Kona for breakfast?)

Yay for extra time for Disney fun!

I vote Kona Cafe for both. Hahaha. But that wouldn't be fun. So I'll say Kona for dinner and Ohana for breakfast. This way you still get the character fun that you would at Chef Mickeys. And I adore Kona for dinner (all meals, really) but if you wouldn't want to visit the Poly twice then Narcoosses would be my #2 for dinner.

I got the pineapple macadamia pancakes at Kona and they were delicious! 'Ohana also seems like it would be a good choice. I don't think you can go wrong with either of those. As far as dinner, I've always wanted to try Narcoossee's so that's the one I would pick!! :)

Well, I think Kona sounds like the best pick of the three for your tastes and family. No characters, but the menu should satisfy all and you'll still be in the Polynesian lobby, which I imagine will also be a bit of a hit.

Now, if you asked me what my favorite breakfast on property is, I would say Kouzzina, hands down. That turkey and sweet potato hash that they serve is a thing of breakfast perfection, especially when you get it with two poached eggs and a side of their delicious chicken sausage. They also make a pretty fantastic Bloody Mary, if that's your thing.

Beleive it or not, I've never even set foot in the Poly during 16 straight years of at-least annual trips to WDW!

Mmm, turkey & sweet potatoes sounds good, I'll have to add Kouzzina to the "to do" list.

I actually love the movie Lilo & Stitch, but not sure they transferred well to walk-around characters!

Hopefully, that was back when they first started breakfast service and hadn't found their footing yet...o_O Shame that it spoiled it for you, though.

Bomas is awesome.:)

I will work on getting the husband there; perhaps I'll arrange for our next stay to be at AKL, that'll make it convenient. ;)

So, when I presented the choices to my honey, without even looking at menus, he chose Ohana (for the characters) and Narcoosee's (because he liked saying the name).

I think I will guide him towards Kona for breakfast, and let him make the call on dinner, although I am dying to try Citricos. There's always next time, and why ask his opinion if I'm just going to override it, right? ;)

I'll be offline for a while, I'm headed for @Crush Dude! territory--my aunt in Ireland is on her deathbed, and I'll be flying over there tonight and back next week.

Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to help me choose new Disney dining experiences!!

If you stay at the AKL you can take a tour of Jiko and try some appetizers there, then they bring you to Boma and you meet with a chef who explains all of the dishes. It is really cool. Just ask at the concierge desk about it.

Is this just for concierge guests?
How much is it?
