Need advice about off-site hotels

I tried to search, so my apologies if this has been posted in another thread.

We are driving from Iowa to WDW in early June and plan to stay somewhere close - Kissimmee or somewhere along the I-4 corridor - the night before our reservations at POR. That way we can get an early start, check in, and still have a full day at one of the parks.

Can anyone recommend a nice, clean, inexpensive hotel within 30 minutes or so of WDW? Orlando is pretty big and I don't want to pay through the roof or be too far away. Thanks!

I've stayed before at Destiny Palms Maingate West...

It's beyond the heavy-tourist area, in a quiet portion of Hwy 192. You'd be a couple of miles from Sherberth Road, which will take you right onto Osceola Parkway on Disney Property near the entrance to Animal Kingdom. It's where I stay when I'm not staying on-property. Usually very reasonable rates, in my opinion, for the type of room you get.

What about just staying another night at your resort? For the hastle it is worth it and can't be that much more than a roach motel you will pay for in Kissimmee. Or you can stay at a value if the $ is really an issue.

Check out the Gaylord Palms. One of the best hotels in the WDW area (including all the onsites). Its a deluxe resort, and we have a great WDWMAGIC reader rate of between $99 and $150 depending on your dates.

The Swan and Dolphin have some great discounts for various people. However, I agree with everyone else. Stay and extra night at your resort. The POR prices are fairly reasonable. The relaxation time will be worth it.
