Need a suggestion

We'll be arriving in Orlando late afternoon of the day before our reservations at CBR. I'd like to book a room at a hotel/motel close to Downtown Disney so that we can get some shopping in. Any suggestions?

Thanks! :)

We have stayed at the Comfort Inn in Lake Buena Vista, and found it to be OK. It is fairly close to Downtown Disney, and minutes away from the parks. We were doing what you are doing, staying off-site the night before we started our time in the parks. I tried posting a link, but the links wouldn't work right. You can use Google for multiple links, some of which offer web discounts.

We have always stayed at one of the All Star or Pop for our first night. It ends up being about the same money as staying off property. You can just book a night without tickets.

Get to start your vacation a little early and you can use transportation.

I highly recommend going to priceline.com to get something in the area... it worked really well for us...we got the Wynham Palace Resort/Spa right across from the market place for under $80 for the night... we checked into our on property hotel the next day.

It was very conveniently located...had a nice pool... we were happy with the value for our money.

All of the above suggestions are great, and I just wanted to add that the Hilton and Grosvenor resorts are DIRECTLY across the street from Downtown Disney and just a short walk to the shops and restaurants.

I have stayed at the Hilton a number of times for work and have never had any problems. You really can't beat the quick walk over and back at night!

HAVE FUN!

The Doubletree Club hotel is our overnight hotel of choice. It's the brightly colored one with all the pineapples on it. It's right near the crossroad's shopping center and the Downtown Disney enterance by Hotel Plaza Blvd. If you are a AAA member, you can get a double room for $69.

We stayed there 2 yrs. ago and it was wonderful. The rooms were spacious and the warm choc. chip cookie when checking in was a nice touch. Also liked that is was close to the grocery store AND downtown Disney.

I agree! We did this in April and spent the first night at ASMovies. Took bus to DTD and got some shopping done, had a nice meal, great photo ops, and a relaxing swim at the pool. All before our vacation "officially" started!

Plus, if you stay on site, you can use the Magical Express now for your luggage.

Enjoy!
