The NBA doesn’t own ESPN. This is an NBA venture. Why Disney didn't call it an ESPN experience to broaden the appeal and push the brand baffles me unless NBA was willing to stump up all the money
I don't have a lot of facts to hand, but my feeling is that NBA has a much much smaller global appeal than FOOTBALL Here's my very limited research.I feel as if Splitsvile can stay afloat at DTD, This NBA Experience shouldn't have a problem either. The NBA (basketball), is much like Soccer, has a global appeal.
NBA is growing, eventually the bad press that football has been getting in recent years may hurt it.I don't have a lot of facts to hand, but my feeling is that NBA has a much much smaller global appeal than FOOTBALL Here's my very limited research.

13% of the US population say basketball is their favorite sport to watch. About 150k people visit WDW daily. So, among them, close to 20,000 basketball fans are at WDW daily.
Not so niche.
While it's true that 13% of the US population like basketball, we're forgetting about demographics here. I'm talking financial situation, race, gender, maybe age too. These demographics could play a massive role, as people that like Basketball AND visit WDW could be totally different people (which I suspect is partly the case).13% of the US population say basketball is their favorite sport to watch. Is the NBA experience trying to cater untapped demographics? It could be. I would read it more like that, than saying "20k people being there will for sure like it".

I dont believe that if we were using Venn diagrams, the complementary intersection would be as large as 13%.
NBA fans are most likely to be:
- Men
- College educated ( or have taken a few college classes)
- Non-parents (and least likely to be grandparents)
- Generation X (35-54)
- Making 50-75K per year, or under 25K per year
- Suburban (and least likely to be rural)
The statistic is "people." The 13% is 13% of people in the U.S. Could the people in the U.S. that go to WDW be skewed such that there are much less than 13% that would list basketball as their favorite sports? Sure. Just like it could skew to be more than 13%.
It's just a ballpark figure. So, maybe anywhere from 5% to 20% of the people visiting WDW list basketball as their favorite sport. That's still more than enough to show there is a market for NBA Experience, and again, that's not even counting basketball fans who rate some other sport as their favorite.
This is just a ballpark figure to counter those who, through anecdotal experience, think there is little to no market for this.
I've heard some people I considered to be intelligent refer to Canada as Domestic and not International. Basically aren't you just the polite 51st State......?Torontonians are crazy about the NBA all of a sudden for some reason.
There was talk that if Kawhi had signed with the Raptors today, this date would forever be called “the Fourth of Kawhi”.
You need to raise the standards of what you consider “intelligent”.I've heard some people I considered to be intelligent refer to Canada as Domestic and not International. Basically aren't you just the polite 51st State......?
The NBA side is. The other side with the dining won’t be.Somebody must have some serious heartburn if this thing is opening next month and there is still exposed sheathing.
It’s all the same building sharing an envelope. One part of the interior is not all that relevant. The NBA side is. The other side with the dining won’t be.
