That's fine. You said what it was never meant to be. I said what it was meant to be. Kevin Yees review is quite a good read.

And I was more referring to how the ride was promoted. Not what was in the planning stages. Was it told to guests that it would be a thrilling D ticket? I'm slightly nitpicking but I was more referring to how the boat ride was promoted and promised to guests as a finished product, so someone shouldn't go in expecting a thrilling E-ticket.

Two things...

1. The projection screen cop-out thing that Disney is stuck on lately isn't fooling me. Build some animatronic figures...and quit being cheap.

2. The audio of the Shaman is badly balanced with the rest of the ride. It's kinda blaring... (or maybe it's just the camera).

It's all quite beautiful for what its worth...and I look forward to seeing it...but the above is what sticks out in my mind.

The audio on it is fine, I rode it twice yesterday. It's a nice diversion, very relaxing.

It looks beautiful and well done. As does the rest of Pandora, but consider that this is without the unwashed masses of regular visitors. I think the charm and beauty of what was created will quickly be lost in when your surrounded by ECVs and the rest... Also, you figured all the creative genius behind Pandora and all you get is a Soarin clone and a 5 minute boat ride. With all the "action" in the Avatar movies, you figured some of it would have translated into theme park attractions.
I would hardly call it a Soarin' clone.

So how does Pandora fall short to you? Just curious your take on it.
As you know I've not visited in person yet (no secret) but have seen a lot of things about every detail of every part shall we say. You know me. For the budget and for what the park needed the headline E is sorely missing. Nine minutes of new ride time is a let down. The land looks fantastic, as I said it would, but the themed environment is a means to an end. The end being nine minutes of ride time. Albeit with highly themed queues, as I said they would be.

My opinion of course. I still look forward to experiencing it in the fall.

That's fair. Thanks Martin :)

I think aside from the animatronic at the end, one of the better effects are the big leaves with the gecko-like creatures jumping on them and the leaves moving synced with the projections, it was a really great touch. I think it would have been good to see this as some sort of LPS system as was planned originally (I think), but if the line is short, I'd definitely take time to ride it.

Exactly! I wonder if someone who calls it a Soarin clone has even experienced it? I rode both rides twice yesterday and FoP is just flat out amazing, not Soarin 2.0, it's so much more immersive than Soarin', I don't see the comparison other than it's a huge screen. FoP is one of those attractions you continue to think about and can't wait to ride again.

What to you would be a short line?

What would be the longest you would feel waiting in line would be worth the experience?

Just curious.

I'd get in line with a 20-30 minute wait. But since I've already experienced it a couple times, I don't see myself waiting longer than that.

For a first time rider, would you feel like it would be a let down after an hour+ wait or are you just more saying, having done it, and not seeing it as a must re-do, 30 minutes is about as long as you'd wait to do it again?

So it's kind of hard for me to answer this, as someone who lives fairly close and can go back, I do feel like it's worth just experiencing, even if it's more than an hour wait, but I don't see the wait for this exceeding that @MrPromey

I just feel like it could use some narration like the land bot ride. I don't know what these creatures are, how do they play into the environmental fable of pandora? I honesty didn't realize the spinning thing was a "fan lizard" and not a weird plant until I watched a very detailed video of the flight queue which showed a drawing of one.
... now I know "iasw" doesn't have narriation, nor did the pre sparrow version of "potc" so it's not out of the norm. Just I personally think it take the ride from a low b to a solid c in my book.

This I think is going to be the biggest issue with the entire land. I liked the movie but I wasn't fanatical about it and honestly couldn't name a single animal, place from the movie. The whole pandora land, while visually amazing and enjoyable is, by design, alien. Too alien and I think many, my self included, are just not going to be able to connect with it other than an interesting place to see. Not a must see location every time we go there. Its just too far detached to form strong lasting bonds with most people. Mention star wars and anyone can tell you something about the story, characters, places in it. For many it brings up fond childhood memories. Mention Pandora and your more likely to the response "isn't that a jewelry company?"

If I may ask, what was the lasting impression from those who rode? No doubt it's visually beautiful and detailed, but in terms of ride time and the overall experience, did you leave "satisfied" with the ride?

I just think about the first year this is in operation and people waiting an hour or more to ride and if the ride will live up to the wait (in their minds).
I absolutely loved it. I really don't care that the story isn't really there. The visuals are stunning and they literally hid every backstage part. That's what impresses me the most. No catwalks, electrical cords, black lights visible etc.

well there was an exit sign but I imagine they were not allowed to hide that so I'd give them a pass on it :).
