Is this office the former Backstage Magic/Computer Central? I've always wanted to see that, maybe I should be like this drunk fool, minus the violence?

To be honest, I have no idea. I know much about Communicore but I don't remember where specific things were in relation to now.

Sounds like a bunch of 20 something college kids to me. People can be stupid and inconsiderate and very very annoying when they don't know how to manage their alcohol!

WHAT?? No OCSO or OPD at EPCOT? I was at HHN Sunday and there was OPD everywhere! What the hell?

There's a VERY big reason as to why there is a very large OPD presence at HHN. Levels of alcohol consumption there make F&W seem like a cakewalk when it comes to drunk people. Every type of drunk is there, plus drunk line cutters and drunks who like to harass or even purposely injure the scareactors or other guests. There's also the issue of more than just drunks (stupid teenagers/college people, certain acts and illegal contraband).

If it tells you anything about how strict Universal is with HHN, every location (even the regular attractions) have at least two Universal Security representatives, with at least 1 OPD officer.

WDW...OPD visits every so often to the parks or resorts, but normally has to be called upon if Disney Security can't handle the situation firsthand.

Between this thread and the 2 others I just happened to click on in the past 10 minutes, I've been talked out of ever going for Food & Wine again. And... now that Flower & Garden has kind of turned into Flower, Garden & Wine I can't help but wonder if it's next. It's sad that idiots like this have to ruin it for people who truly just want to sample some wine and enjoy it without getting wasted. Those who like a drink here and there to enjoy it and not be drunk get a "bad name" the more drunken idiots out there like this appear.

My experience has been that if you are visiting Disney on a family vacation, stay away from F&W on Friday and Saturday... only bad things happen, it is packed and there are a ton of drunks. During the Mon-Wed timeframe the locals aren't around and it is much quieter and family friendly. There are always a few that go overboard, but on Friday and Saturday it is ridiculous (mostly local 20 somethings).

We found this to be true as well. That previous Monday we had no problems and the lines at the food booths were only 2 or 3 deep. Saturday was like all we wanted to do is run to future world to get away from everybody.

If true, what the ????. Going to be a short career. I live near a couple of military bases and when the troops come home from Afghanistan or Iraq there tends to be incidents but that's more explainable why they're acting like their off their rocker. This guy it seems would be a real problem if he saw any combat.
I thought the same thing. This guy hits the jackpot in getting into the Academy in the first place, and does something like this?

I always thought Disney had security guards all over the parks but just not in visible positions. I'm starting to think that once in the gate Disney is just relying on the guests to self police themselves???? It seems to take far to long for anyone who can end the situation to show up.
It always seemed to me like the amount of Security Personnel at Disney was greatly overstated. For their coverage to be as good as people say (undercover plainclothed security everywhere) they would have to have an obscene amount of staff. Something in this day and age I don't see TDO doing. Certain locations probably have great coverage sure, but I don't expect every corner of every park to have someone ready to leap out of the bushes.

I believe the term you are searching for is Gemütlichkeit.

Your comments are rather contradictory. Why else would someone pay $90 for entry and $7 a beer? I don't think its so you can get hammered. There are many more economical ways to do that. Including Alpine Helen.

.
I personally guarantee the word he was "searching for" was not that one.

To the neo-prohibitionist posters,

Lighten up.

Sure there are probably a few shouting matches each night at F&W, maybe a shove or two, maybe the engaged couple from Des Moines calls off the wedding. But the fact that this thread has 9 pages shows how surprised everyone is by this particular psycho. Its all stuff that could happen anywhere on any given day.
While this is, indeed "stuff that could happen anywhere on any given day", it shouldn't be happening at a family theme park.

I wouldn't doubt it if Disney limited entry to those who either had APs or a minimum of a 3-day pass. This would keep the local riff-raff out.

The idea that only poor people get drunk and make out of themselves is inane at best, offensive at worst.

Things that would make a difference: Spending more on security. Spending more on server training (or, gasp, hiring experienced bartenders). Capping attendance at the park (instead of selling to full park "capacity" knowing FW will be almost empty). Eliminating more of the hard alcohol options (Cava margaritas and Singapore Slings are particularly dangerous for people who don't drink much).

Of course, all of these would hurt WDW's bottom line. So I expect we'll see none of them.
