I just got this months issue of a magazine i get for NASCAR Diecast and collectibles. The Daytona 500 that is coming up, all the diecast cars have Mickey Mouse on them. If you want to look at them, go to the superstore at NASCAR.COM, and they have them there.

As far as I know, Disney's in with the Daytona 500 to help promote Mickey's 75th B-Day. Last weekend at the Homestead-Miami Speedway, they had a Daytona 500 merchandise trailer with Mickey plastered everywhere. I had to buy my fiance a shirt with it's matching hat. I'm excited to see Disney involved with Nascar, but I fear it's only going to be short lived.

I'm a huge Nascar fan and I'm amazed that I hadn't heard of this yet. It's great there getting some involvement in Nascar. It would be nice if they actually sponsored a car for the whole season. Before you say that would be a waste of money, I say think about these possibilies.

1. Nationwide exposure on national tv.

2. Marketing of that driver or team in the WDW and abroad.
The revenue from shirts sales and die casts to name a few
could add up to millions. "Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Budweiser
reportedly brought in around $25 million last year alone!"

3. Redo Tomorowland Speedway!! New cars with different
bodies on them would be nice.

4. I know the noise is always an issue, but use the racetrack in
WDW or get rid of it!! With a Nascar Disney themed car you
could possibly use the track for some type of promos.

5. What better way to advertise on the car for some of your
movie releases. This is already done on a wide scale in
Nascar.

These are just some of my thoughts. Any naysayers out there? I would love to hear some positive feedback on this also. Keep an open mind on this one. Auto racing is the #1 spectator sport in the whole world. All of us fans can't be that wrong. Look at the corporate sponsors involved just in Nascar these days. It's kind of the who's who of business giants. Bud, Miller, Coors, Kodak, GM Goodwrench, Alltell, Pfizer, Ups, Kellogs, Pepsi, Valvoline, Napa, Harrah's, Grainger, DeWalt, Interstate Batteries. I could go on and on from series to different series and the list is pretty impressive. On the local scene, I sponsor 3 race cars a year. If you haven't been to a Nascar race, then it's pretty hard to believe that you have a proper perspective on this. I have season tickets for Bristol Motor Speedway. Everytime I take someone whohas never been to a Nascar race, they come away as huge fans. If you haven't noticed, I have a huge love of almost all racing. Congrats to my fellow badger. The final Nascar Winston cup champ. The #17 Dewalt tools, Smirnoff Ice, Lexan, Roush racing Ford Taurus of Matt Kenseth!!

I think if Disney got more involved with Nascar it would be a win win situation. There are several teams out there that need a sponsor and Disney would be associated with the fastest growing sport in america. And Badger I believe that Nascar still comes in as the no.2 watched spectator sport. Last I checked the NFL was still the most watched. However that is likely to change quickly.

In the United States football is the #1 spectator sport, with Nascar coming in at #2. In the whole world, soccer blows both of them away as the #1 spectator sport.
Back on topic, I would like to see it. It can open up a lot of possiblities.

I agree it would be great if Disney would actually sponsor a car. It's hard to find a car to root for that isn't sponsored by alcohol. With so many kids watching this sport and buying the merchandise, it would be nice to have another "kid friendly" driver to root for!

You're right but I wasn't talking about main sponsors. I'm talking about anywhere on their cars. Matt Kenseth for example. Smirnoff is not his main sponsor but he's all over their commercials.

Smirnoff may not be his main sponsors, but he uses Smirnoff cars multiple times a year.

Most racers may have an ad on one of their quarter panels, but other than Rusty, Jr., Marlin, I can't think of others that have alcoholic beverages as a promenent sponsor.

I couldn't tell you more than 10 of the sponsors that get quarter panel spots.

Besides, Disney sells alcohol in every park except MK.

I know that all of the DEI cars have Drakkar Noir on them. I am pretty sure their are other teams with associate sponsers as alcohol, but that is the first that comes to mind.

Are we getting off the topic or what?

Sorry my fault. We are off topic!

I know Disney sells alcohol in the parks I am just assuming they would not want a giant Mickey on a car next to (even a small one) a Bud light logo. Maybe that is a big assumption.

I'm not expecting to take away all the alcohol sponsors from Nascar, I just wish there were a few more drivers who avoided them. :D

I believe u wont really see Disney really sponsor anything to do with Nascar, cause Nascar car really screwed ESPN out of the current TV Package nascar is currently on. And as we all know, Disney owns ESPN. If ESPN by any chance gets broadcasting rights on the next TV Package which is up in 2007, they i Surely believe that Disney will have a hugh involvement with Nascar.

Personally, I don't think ESPN/ABC was that worried about losing NASCAR. I don't think they wanted to split the series anymore like Fox/NBC is now. ESPN/ABC has NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, MLS.

I think now would be a good time for Disney to get involved with NASCAR. It's still growing, the Winston affiliation is now gone, and it seems to be growing into a more family friendly, non-total redneck audience.

I saw the Daytona '04 stuff at the Homestead race and boy it was neat. Like someone else said, seeing two of my favorite things combined is great! The paint scheme Elliot (9) and Mayfield (19) ran earlier this year with Lion king was really nice, and they tactfully chose their drivers to sponsor, as they are two drivers who are laid back , talented. and would not emabrass them. I hope they do this more often!

All cars affliated with Ricard Petty dont have any alcohol sponsors on them. This is cause Petty doesnt think it is right for them promote drinking and driving or something along those line. But for those who say wait a minute what about the if they win the Bud Pole Award. If a Petty car were to win the pole, they wouldnt get any money from bud, and wouldnt be able to run in the Bud Shootout.

So if Disney were to be an associate sponsor on any team, look no further then Petty Racing, and cause they do have the Richard Petty Driving Experience at WDW.

Also a side not, ESPN was very upset to lose the bid on Nascar. It is the 2nd watched program behing football on sundays. Number 1 in the ratings when football not in season. Thats rating that they dont have now, and money there not getting for commercials. And by the way, ESPN is putting ina bid in 2007 for the next tv package.

ESPN is the main reason the sport is where it is today.

Well there is no immediate danger of a Petty car winning a pole award so I don't think that will be a problem for them.
