Mystery Project at Epcot

Don't know how worried I am yet. Rat looks like it could be a decent new ride and I suppose there are worse fitting ideas for rides given the French theme already in place, but EPCOT has enough character franchise crap already and needs some new original things, Disney needs to stop compromising the park's vision with rides like this.

I'll also be most ed if they tear down the movie to build this in its place. It looks like there's SOME space that could potentially be used for a new show building behind the current pavilion, but the ride may require a larger show building than that space provides. And either way, Disney loves re-purposing already existing attractions and space instead of expanding.

Honestly future world is what needs TLC first. Energy, innoventions/figment, the end of spaceship earth, new soarin film(s)

World showcase can use some things too but take care of a few dinosaurs in future world, then take care of a few in the dinosaur area of AK too (and oh yeah, DHS needs a major facelift) lol

That would actually make a whole lot of sense with tom fitzgerald being brought over, man folks are not gonna like this move on here if that is true.

I think you are right about people not liking it. I'm not really sure why. It fits in the theme and if they build the restaurant too it actually makes sense to have the ride there. The concept as I understand it is you are shrunk to the size of a rat and ride through scenes throughout the restaurant. It doesn't seem like much of a stretch to have this and the actual restaurant added to the France pavilion in EPCOT. I can see the complaint that it's not educational and I know people don't like cartoons in EPCOT, but in this case it makes a lot of sense. Plus we get a new E-ticket ride.

I agree. Surprisingly, despite the low amount of rides in World Showcase, Future World has a far greater need of new additions/refurbishments. Future World needs more new additions and refurbishments also!

yeah most people on here don't like any sort of cartoon anything, and while I understand an american movie doesn't really deserve to showcase french culture in the pavilion I can't help but really want this attraction stateside. Honestly Epcot is starved for new experiences plus an addition like this would really make folks wanna visit the world showcase more!

Even though I agree Future World needs help, and the Rat ride would just be a bandaid (not saying we wouldn't get more but let's be real; this is costly) so I have mixed feelings on that aspect of it. But I really would love a new e-ticket and I'd be happy with this.

Besides Remy's been in France for years up until this year anyway ;)

What would they do with the opening times in Epcot? Future world opens earlier than World Showcase. If they put a ride in France, I would think that it might mean world showcase opens up at the same time as future world?

France opens at 9am because the bakery opens with the park as of last year.

Ahhh, thanks. Makes a lot of sense too then why they would go with a Ratatouille ride, fits in perfectly in France, and no opening hour problems like I was curious about.

This is positive news. A few years ago they were saying no new investments for the parks for a while and then we have new fantasyland, Disney springs, pandora, and now rumors of Epcot mystery project, and major love coming for DHS.

Epcot project could be new film for soarin, figment redo, and/or ratatouille (I assume???)

DHS will I'm sure include Star Wars but what else remains a big mystery there too. These next few years will be interesting to see where they head

While we all wish it would come sooner rather than later, I'm getting the feeling Disney is not blind to what really needs to be done down the road in the next 5 years or so.

IMHO. Over time, i think there wont be a Star wars expansion. but something to go over the back lot. maybe a pixar place expansion.

If anything it's the other way around, star wars just recently got it's own department to develop experiences for the parks, you don't flush that kind of money for nothing plus insiders keep saying starwars is happening, while pixar has most likely been given the axe over at the studios.

Sadly, agreed. Not sad about StarWarsLand, but sad about not getting both.
