Mystery Project at Epcot

Yeah, the news coverage was so incredibly sensationalized. Again, it wasn't the earthquake or the tsunami that did the real damage to the reactors, it was the loss of electrical power to the generators as a result of the tsunami that allowed the reactors to overheat.

Compliance counsel for Westinghouse at Savannah River sounds really neat. Very important work.

As for the new cores at Plant Vogtle, you guys are absolutely right: the new reactors are designed to withstand significant earthquakes, and if a tsunami gets 100 miles inland we have MUCH bigger problems than a nuclear reactor...much. It would be really hard for a natural disaster to recreate the Fukushima disaster here in the US.

They were overstating everything, including "mrems"...I used to joke at the time that "All I know about Nuclear Physics is what I learned from Simpsons."

When I went to Universal last year I got my Dad a 3 eyed fish which he keeps in his office there.

Compare ground Zero of Hiroshima (and if you are really interested, do a radiation comparison)...and look where it's at now, THEN compare Detroit USA now...)

Come back and tell be how terrible it is, and how "radiation" is "artificial" (even though we experience it every day).

The short term is "lawyer"...but "counsel" does sound better....

Ah. So, by local, you mean the Journal/Constitution? I didn't follow their coverage, and I don't watch the local news channels...so, I really wasn't sure what they said about it.

And ditto. Also Atlanta. Just outside the NE Perimeter. Nice to meet 'cha!

<shakes hands>

Should any of us in Atlanta at this point consider the AJC to be meaningful news source? :) There is no way that they had much of anything too incorrect in their articles because they barely contain information to begin with. And our local news loves apartment fires and endless weather coverage. You aren't missing anything by not watching our local "news." News would be a very loose term here. :)

I only knew about it through my Dad (who consulted on the project)...the first thing to pop in my mind was, I hope GA Power lowers the rates after it's built! (fat chance, I know)...

GA Power is actually going to raise rates so that the customers can pay for the plant. They've already begun the increases and they will continue over the next few years. It's unreal.

3-eyed fish = great gift. I always feel bad for family members who have to learn things like mrems and all the other nerd terms we use. I spent dinner last night discussing wing stall and center of gravity...until eyes glazed over at the table...

Hey, let's keep this thread active since this is about credible future news and it's still a mystery!

I was thinking, could the mystery attraction be a new Soaring movie based on the upcoming Pixar film Planes? Both the movie and the mystery attraction are slated for a 2015 opening.

Lol. You know what I mean. The source being an Imagineer being credible when he said he is working on a mystery project for EC to open in 2015. That's the credible part. All guesses, including mine, not so credible, and is as good as anyone else's!

Planes is not a Pixar film and is being released on August 9, 2013.

No movie starring Dane Cook is going to be getting an attraction at a Disney theme park.

Easy on the Detroit jabs bud ... the Motor City's trying to make a comeback. ;) I can't help it if each one of our City Council Members feels like they are entitled to 8 aids ... :D

I hope it does. It is truly a shame seeing what has happened to the city over the past few decades.

Then again, I've been reading of several revitilization projects that seem to be going well there...so, hopefully that trend carries!

I can only hope. They need to remove the current city leaders before anything of substance will happen, it's a sad joke.

Its amazing how much city leadership impacts what progress can be made. Look no further than the Washington DC City Council (looking at you, Mr. Barry).
